Re: Brakeaway Cruise Control Installed Today

I would also point out that in most states it's pretty inexpensive to take the course. Here in Illinois, it's actually free.

Re: Brakeaway Cruise Control Installed Today

We teach at stops, always stay in gear with the clutch in so you can get out of the way quickly if necessary.

Also, we make them park in neutral, which is something I disagree with... but I don't...

Re: Brakeaway Cruise Control Installed Today

Yes, those are very nice, but that's a "true" cruise control. The Brakeaway is just a throttle-holding device.

It may be possible to install one on the 109. I know it can be done on the smaller...

Re: Brakeaway Cruise Control Installed Today

As an MSF RiderCoach, I'll tell you that same thing I tell my students -- the amount of risk you're willing to accept is entirely up to you.

Re: Brakeaway Cruise Control Installed Today

You sure about that? There is quite a lot of adjustment possible back and forth and up and down with the Brakeaway. I can see where some levers might be too curved in the middle, but that's about it.

Re: Brakeaway Cruise Control Installed Today

Ditto on the above. The Brakeaway is the ONLY throttle lock that really works reliably.

Yeah, they ain't cheap. But this is one area you probably don't want to skimp out on.

    Re: Shafted by Oneida

I've done quite a bit of business with Oneida in the past. Their prices are great, but don't count on being able to return ANYTHING. They are extremely tight on returns. Doesn't matter if it's never...

Re: OH NO - No Radiator Fan!!!

Bruno is one smart dude.*

Apparently the connector for the fan wiring fell down against the fan cage somehow. When the fan turned on during the super-hot weather we've been having,...

OH NO - No Radiator Fan!!!

    Holy crap. :verymad:

I am on vacation, about 1,500 miles from home, the hottest day of the year, and guess what decided to quit working?

Fuse is okay but the radiator fan will not come on....

    Re: HELP ME! Gasket troubles...

A good idea, but working on this engine while it's still in the frame makes this impossible. There is less than an inch of clearance at the bottom.

I'm tackling this tomorrow morning. I'll let you...

Re: 2 Good 2 Be True

Dealer price on the 2006 was $10,400 according to the invoice my dealer showed me. It's probably a tad higher than that now, as the MSRP went up a few hundred this time around.

Poll: Re: Own It or Financed?

I would agree -- if you bought it with a home equity loan, that counts as financed. Just different collateral is all.

Poll: Re: Own It or Financed?

I didn't meant to imply anything like this. I certainly don't have that kind of scratch lying around either. But again, I've rarely owned more than one bike at a time, and I always have had a...

    Poll: Own It or Financed?

Just curious as to what the ratio is on this. I've never financed a bike before. I'm wondering how common it is.

  24. Re: Engine Braking? Letting out the clutch immediately slams into gear?

Medic is right. Give her a little throttle and let out the clutch REAL slow and you won't lock up the rear. I can engine brake pretty consistently now, but it took a few thousand miles to get the...
