Just picked up Motorcycle Cruiser mag since it had a 109 on the over and a nice tech write-up on it.* On page 17 there is a great mod'd 109 from Cobra USA with alot of planned accessories...* Good news is, you don't have to buy the mag to see this beauty.* Click on over to http://www.cobrausa.com/content/index.cfm?siteaction=Showbikes and click the 109 for good visualization of where these bikes can go with the right add-ons.... hot!

I talked to someone that would know how they sound yesterday.* He said they sound better than stock (if that is possible).

Looks sharp, I like the small Cobra tach they added.

I don't care for those pipes.

I think they stripped away too much of the character of the bike. They say they took off "truckloads" of plastic and it shows. The stock exhaust has such great lines, I would like to look at something that modifies the exisiting pipes or new pipes of a similar shape.

Ditto. The curved exhaust is a MAJOR part of the personality of this bike. Getting rid of that is like the Fonz without the leather jacket.

Sorry, but it just looks like they cheaped out on these pipes. They look exactly like the ones they sell for every other bike.

thanks for posting that. i don't care much for the overall look they were going for. however, they did answer some of our questions indirectly...

1. stock wheels can be polished (not chromed) and look good
2. stock rear wheel can hold an avon 250

i love the polished wheels (and shaft!). don't care much for the air intake, the tach (i like our stock), nor the exhausts. i think the paint is fitting for the look they were going for. however, i don't like the look they were going for :P.

They took a one of a kind bike and turned it back into a clone.

Personally, I dont like it. I can not believe that alleged "show bike" builders that are supposed to improve the looks of of a bike can actually do the opposite and take so much away from it. The only way I would modify the exhaust on my bike is somebody comes up with slip-ons that look just like the ones on our bikes. The ones from Cobra I wouldn`t even think of putting them on my bike even if they payed me to do so. I`ll leave those pipes for my H-D riding friends. Again, this is my personal opinion.

I can't believe no one has brought up the floorboards! This bike isn't made for floorboards to look good one. I'm sure they are comfortable and all that, but the pegs fit the overall look so much better. The drag pipes didn't impress me either. I'd settle for slip-ons that look like stock pipes, but I have a feeling that I'll just stick with the stock look for awhile. ;)

The mods on that bike were like taking the chome and fins off on a `59 Cadillac :redfaced:

Caught the Cobra 109 at Leesburg today. Spoke with the guy who ran the boulevard truck. I think they rushed thru the bike at least the one that was on display. The rims where slightly pitted. The polished aluminum looked weak. Looked to me like they just needed to meet deadline. I will definitely take my time to make mine Bad Ass !

Was at Leesburg today and also got to look over the one Cobra customized. It looked good IMO. The bars seemed too low to actually be comfortable. It was the integrated riser/bar type. The tach was a nice touch. I was left scratching my head at the air boxes. They weren't actually doing anything. I wonder if they just diverted air up under the tank. Looking at the polished wheels and forks, I have come to the conclusion that if it is difficult for Cobra to do a really nice job on them, I don't have a prayer trying it myself. All in all they did a nice job, even though it sounds like I am bashing it.

Now, the other customized 109. Whoever did that one, deserves some big time kudos. It's the one most of us have seen pictures of circulating this site. What a beauty.

Talked to the dealer who had it at Leesbugh, it doesn't even start. They are just for show they are not working bikes.

The air intakes are fake -- no filters, and not connected to anything. So, even if it did start, it wouldn't run.

Maybe they did have to rush it to get it done, but sorry -- still no excuse for those Harley-wannabe drag pipes. Just lame-o.
