Question about tour pak mount

Ok been trying to research a way to carry my flat tire kit, phone and few other small items. Cant seem to find saddlebags i like or would look good on the bike. Thought of maybe a fork bag in front but not sure I would like it. Handlebar bag would block tach. So next idea was a tour pak so wife would have a back rest and I would have storage. Also with factory exhaust which I hope to change next summer anyways is high and most places say have to watch out for the heat on that side. So do they make a flat mount that will fit behind passenger seat? most tour paks need an 8x8 flat mounting plate. Not even sure it would look good without saddlebags on with it. Kicking ideas around cause I dont want to ride with a backpack on me, lol. I like the Corbin trunk thing but then what do I do when wife or kid wants to ride? Thanks for any input or directions, I know I have not been posting much but still trying to get as much knowledge here from you all before hand. Oh and before I forget was hoping it would be lockable so no one steals anything.Thanks, Bill.

Get a regular backrest with luggage rack and mount one of the small Mutazu travel trunks on it. If you don't want the full backrest there are some that you can just use the upright with the luggage rack and no backrest. Your wife might like having a regular backrest too.

I've also seen folks use just the uprights and turn the luggage rack around so it's over the passenger seat and then mount the trunk so it works as a backrest for the driver.

I just installed a Cobra luggage rack, and I put my tank bag on it. I pretty much carry what you mentioned. It actually holds itself to the rack with the magnets, but I use a net style bungee cord for insurance. It doesn't look "too" bad. The plain bike is the best look, but if you need to carry stuff, the looks have go away. Now, I'm a solo rider, so this doesn't work for you 2 up. Just another thought.

I put on the cobra backrest and luggage rack which I installed my Dowco Iron Rider overnight bag on. In this small bag I carry a bottle of sunscreen, three small bottles of water, a Slime compact air compressor, extra glove, neck gator, a tire plug kit, cleaning packs for my sunglasses.
extra coat, hat and some paper towels. I guess I took the trunk thing a little too far but I like having a backup plan when things go wrong on the road. The Dowco overnight bag has two huge Velcro straps that secure to the backrest and no worries about it ever coming loose. Beat the heck out a backpack or a bag hanging on your tank.

Thanks for the advice, gonna look a little more but probably have to go the backrest mount and plate. Then mount something back there, really hate to cover the rear wheel with saddlebags. I love the look of that big tire back there, lol.

Right now I use a back pack since I ride solo, but soon I will be buying a tank Bag (magnetic).

Cortech sells a super mini tank bag I have one works great.When I get off bike I take it with me has a carrying handle

I had my tach inside my headlight. I put it back on the risers and formed up a little pocket that fit inside the headlight with some plastic. I was able to carry a little wind breaker or a couple of bottles of water. Also a tire plugger kit at one time.You would be surprised what you can fit in there. Sorry I don't have any pictures. I sold it to a guy at bike night that had a fit and had to have it. Also just mounted an airhorn inside the nacelle.

I do have a Cobra backrest as well with a small 5 buck walmart back pack that I mounted on it. It does great for the days I have a passenger.

These are the 2 I am looking at. Wife says if gonna get them better to be the larger capacity to fit more stuff. Went on a 300mile ride with a few friends and was great but got cold and if had saddlebags would have had extra clothing with me. Had to suck it up and ride on, lol.
