    Default Galfer Discontinuing Chrome Rotors

    Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to give you guys a heads up. I was on the phone with Galfer today and attempted to get a set of chrome rotors. They informed me they are no longer offering this finish due to problems with them and returns. They wouldn't even sell me a set. It looks like the chrome must not be holding up on them. I'm a little disappointed because the black looks like crap on a otherwise completely chromed out bike. If anyone has any options, let me know. I suppose I could polish them, although I'm not crazy about the upkeep.

Have Jerry / liquidPain polish them . Believe me they will look better than Chrome .. He does top notch work ... I believe I'm not alone saying that .

Or have Jerry or Chip Simmons chrome your stock ones. Or you could go after market ones with a pattern in them, check out RC Components.

Thanks for the information guys. I considered the off-brand rotors in the front but the "chrome" finish is actually more of a matte silver, not mirror chrome.

As far as LiquidPain, does anyone know if you can clear over the polished surfaces to preserve the finish? I'll check with him as well. Just not wanting to maintain a surface like that with all the little angles, grooves, and surfaces.

I am a Galfer dealer and I have a request into both Galfer and my distributor to find out what the deal is. I spoke with a Galfer rep just the other day about failing chrome and was told that the issue was fixed.

It takes years before Jerry's polishing needs any upkeep. Click image for larger version.

Okay, just got off the phone with Galfer and here's the skinny on chrome rotors. They have temporarily stopped production of the chrome rotors due to issues with the chrome on some rotors. They plan on still making them in the future but are evaluating the process to determine what's causing the problem.

I suspect it's a matter of how long they've been on. The set I sent to Sweden that had issues was only after 4 months. If more than a year they probably won't do anything. You will have to contact them.

And, on another note, your entire front (the part you see in the mirror each day) looks like crap also.

Is that rotor polished? If so, that is impressive. Was this what it looked like when you got it back or after you've been riding on it for a while?

That is polished yes. And that picture is before it was installed on the bike. But it stays that way for years.

    Check us out.

When we polish the OEM style rotors, they are stainless and stay high polished for years to come. Very, very minimal maintenance, if any.

Are you able to polish the centers of the Galfer rotors? They look to be very difficult to get into all the angles.
