    Default Stupidest move EVER!

I just finished replacing my Cobra pipes with a new set of Bassani Prostreets, which sound awesome by the way. I go over to a friends house to show them off but as he walks outside and I come to a stop, I do the dumbest thing and forget to put down the kickstand. As soon as I go to get off I know it is leaning too far but it was too late to stop and had to just get out of the way and let gravity do its thing. I am so pissed at myself. Bent my gear shifter, broke my clutch lever, scratched the boulevard emblem on the tank, and bruised my ego! The pipes look great though!

No worse than what I did this summer...like the previous post said, it happens. Fix it, move on and enjoy it again.

edit: Here's a duh moment to make you feel better...First bike, 1978 Kawasaki KZ650. Kick start. Went to show off in front of a bunch of friends....kick started it while still in 1st gear...was a lovely sight.

    Default Chit happens

Did that when I brought mine home for the first time I tried to catch it but got trapped underneath...

Luckily, two of my boys were there,10 and 12 at the time,we struggled but got her upright.

My body along with my ego were equally bruised

I guarantee you won't do it again

WITHOUT FAIL, every time I try to show off on my bike something happens that makes me look stupid. Including but not limited to dropping the bike when my wife's entire family was behind me in their car, my kickstand catching my pant leg and my bike dies because it is in gear and moving, and the list goes on. I have given up on trying to be a showman LOL.

I had the same thing happen to me the other day. Fortunately I was in the garage and I park it next to the left wall of the garage. Just when I realized I had no kickstand down my shoulder hit the wall. I ended up lifting it back up without it falling over I also lucked out not giving myself a hernia lifting this beast back up.

Hummmm, maybe the lesson learned here is about attention and keeping it. Somehow I figure it's a matter of time before I do this..........

Right there with you. I was moving mine into the garage. Wrenched my back pretty good trying to hold her up, had to let go, and ended up pinned against and slightly under my workbench. Very lucky my wife was home that day or I would have been there awhile. Left leg and hip were bruised, but the bike was fine.

That's why I kill mine by putting down the kickstand instead of turning off the switch. Now if I can just remember to turn the key off afterwards.

u think that bruised ur ego? how about grabing a hand full of throttle and dumping the clutch to pull off fast, in front of ur cousins girlfriend after she complimented u on ur bike, and forgetting to remove the disk lock on the front rotor. i got thrown over the handle bars like i was on a bucking bronco and my full face twisted to the side covering my eyes. on my gsxr.

You guys crack me up. lol. First thing that happens when I stop is put the kickstand down. First. Everything else comes after.

I don't know but I usually try to get one foot on the ground first, then the kickstand comes down. It is recipe for disaster if the kickstand was to fail to extend and go all the way down and forward. Then you'd be going right over with the bike.

I think we have a winner, but I am a very close second. I decided to do a burnout while leaving a parking lot after a car show. In the middle of the burnout, the car started to do doughnuts. I let it continue, and nearly took out a light pole in the middle of the parking lot. I stopped about 12" from the concrete base.
Just remember, it happens to all of us. The key is to learn from our mistakes.

I always use the kickstand safety to turn off the motor, then let out clutch and let bike rock back or forward (depending on incline) to where the compression/tranny act as park break
    Then turn off key

I also never let it run in neutral with kickstand down and me off bike, too many bad stories of the 9 bouncing itself off the stand.

Terrible sight it must be to see your toy on it's side

At least it didn't do too much harm and like always the forum members jump in to help
