    Default Has Suzuki fixed its M109R Clutch Lubrication Problems?

    Hi,

    I am researching a 2011-2012 M109r purchase. I have learned a lot on this thread about potential clutch issues (and fixes). Does anyone know if the clutch lubrication problem has been finally resolved by Suzuki?

    Don't know if Suzuki has addressed it but this board has. It's a relatively easy fix and this shouldn't be a factor in your decision to buy the bike.

    by Suzuki = NO , by the experts on this site = YES
    ..
    use this tutorial , either you , or show it to the person you trust to work on your bike
    get to the part of the tutorial about adjustment pin , do the adjustment pin mod ,
    ( shave some meat off on 3 sides ) , put back together , never worry about the clutch shudder...

    I completely agree with the above posts. I had no more experience with cars or bikes aside from oil changes. With the tutorials and help from the guys on this site I completed the tube nut fix in an afternoon. Now my bike runs just as good if not better. Don't let this small issue deter you from buying this bike.

    I am not shy about doing the repairs. Back in the old days I rebuilt the clutch on my GS1100 a couple of times. The clutch baskets on the earlier models were riveted together and would wear out in about 10k miles of hard use. The primary gear would separate from the basket. Finally they came out with an updated basket where they were welded together.

    From what I can see the push pin mod is the critical mod for the oil starvation problem and applying locktite to the tube nut is a good idea.

    Another Question:

    I have read somewhere about these massive over square pistons suffering piston slap under heavy loading. Anyone had this experience?

    I took mine on a 3500 mile journey this summer from Oregon to Sturgis, SD. I weigh about 300 lbs. and I had at least another 100 pounds of luggage on the back. Went up some pretty serious inclines along the way as well. All together I've put 13,000 miles on this year alone. These bikes are great. I'd look into a test ride if you're on the fence about this bike. Also try not to let the mod bug bite you'll lose any other hobby you may have had to modding this beast.

    I am on the second year of a 2006 I bought used and the bike is incredible compared to all the Harleys I owned/built/rode... It does drive me nuts sometimes, wanting to change things around on it, then I come out of the trance and just ride the thing some more...
