how to remove melted shoe sole from exhaust
just like the title says, how do I get melted shoe sole off of the exhaust? That stuff is melted on there really good.
It looks like my fiancee drags her foot on the exhaust when she gets off of the bike and it is leaving black streaks and some actual deposits on it. I tried lightly scrubbing it but I don't want to scratch up the exhaust.

Easy Off oven cleaner in the blue can. make sure not to get it on the paint. It will take it right off. No need to heat the pipes. Follow up w/ polish/wax. Spray it on, let it sit a few minutes, wipe it off.

I dunno about SOS pads but I use fine steel wool and chrome cleaner together and it works great for cleaning chrome.
Nope. get it nice and wet. just don't go crazy with it.
I do this as well. I use 000 steel wool gently.

My Brother in law is a Stainless Steel, Aluminium fabricator. He told me to flatten a copper pipe and use as a scrapper as it wont scratch chrome. Works a treat.
Let the pipes go cold first. Hope tip helps.

Chrome compound works well. That's what its for. Then you got to do the whole muffler it looks so good.
What other people think of you is none of your business.
Brake cleaner worked for mine.... Then as soon as possible cut the mufflers off and put on the scorpion tips and the problem is solved.....

Acetone works well, I just had to get some burnt on Frogg Toggs off my wife's bike today with it. Actually it was finger nail polish remover, so it even smelled nice.
Life has no remote control, get up and change it yourself.
i had to use brand new blade from box cutter. worked like magic no scratches either everything failed with nylon burnt on chrome. left by previous owner he scrubbed the chrome took:me while polish them back to shine.

Just do not use the sponges with the course side. I did that and scratched my chrome. I never suspected a plastic based kitchen spong deal could scratch chrome but it did. I'd be real careful and test a non-visible area. BTW, 3M makes an adhesive remover that works wonders. I saw a can at my local Wallmart - if not there an auto body supply shop will have it. Great stuff to have in the garage along side of the PB Blast.
Thanks for all of the suggestions guys. I went with the Easy Off method and it worked very well, although there are a couple of marks that are still on the pipe that look like scratches. I am going to break out the Never Dull and see if that will work on them.
I am going to have to start up a new thread about paint repairs now. It looks like someone tried to sit on my bike and scratched the tank with their heel. I know it wasn't me as I never mount the bike that way. Meh.

McGuire's Scratch-X works great! Just go easy - the clear coat is VERY thin on these bikes...
I am thinking this is going to have to be an actual paint repair. It looks like it was scraped to the metal, or almost to the metal. I'll snap a picture later and start up a new thread on it.
