I would think it depends on how much you like to corner.

I had 2" Yana Shiki bones before the air ride. I could still ride aggressive. You just have to get used to scraping in the corners. I still scrape with air ride fully up. No big deal IMO. If you don't ride aggressive it's not an issue really. I think it's totally worth the look.

I have been considering 2" lowering bones for a while now too, am I correct in assuming that people change the rear shock setting with these fitted. Also how do they run with a passenger?

    Cheers

The bones do compromise cornering some, but riding style adjustments can easily overcome that. Depending on shock preload setting, 2-up riding should not be a problem. Just decide on how low you want to go and consider the weight of you and passenger when deciding. It was definely worth it for me. One of the first mods I did. Had them on before I got my permanent tag!

You may want to tinker with the shock settings and see what you like best. One thing you need to do is grind the bolts that stick through the inner fender. If you don't they will gouge your tire. Rides fine with a passenger. I would occasionally bottom out if I hit a big wave in the road at speed with a passenger.

Pretty easy job if you've got a motorcycle jack.

I have the 2" yana's on mine, people say they are closer to 2.5". Definitely lost some cornering ability, just took some time to learn the new limits. I really like the feel of it riding 1-up, hunkers down more and looks awesome.

2-up is not great. My wife weighs around 110 and I can definitely tell she is back there. However I have not adjusted my shock at all. She doesn't ride enough for me to mess with it. I think it would be fine if I turned the shock up for 2-up riding, I just don't because she doesn't ride enough for me to hassle with it.

They were easy to put on, just read the how to, goes step by step and makes it pretty simple.

I do wish it didn't scrape so soon sometimes, but overall I am very happy with the bones and wouldn't take them off. I will get air-ride someday and then I will have the best of both.

i found the 2" Yanashiki bones actually lowered my bike 2.5". if you ride 2 up, make sure you grind off the ends of the 2 fender bolts protruding down from above the tire. I have two small lines in my new tires due to me forgetting to trim those down.

as for install, the process is simple and straight forward, helps to have a friend with you just in case those bolts are as hard to remove as phatkenny's were ! mine was easy to do by myself....his was an SOB ! that suzuki white loctite is incredibly strong and when you finally get the bolt to loosen, it does so with a very loud SNAP noise, making you think you broke it....

anyways, have a long breaker bar to help assist and someone to hold the bike while your under it working...

IMHO...its one of the best mods ive done

What he said!! + It sure gives the bike some attitude
Make sure you put some Water proof grease on the bolts when installing the new bones
    It avoids the clicking/snapping noise

Default I Love My Bones, But . . .My Bubs Do Not

The Bones make the bikes stance IMHO. I think it looks awesome with the 2.25 inch drop (Baron's bones), until recently it didn't bother me in the corners . . (Alberta) but got back into the twisties in BC and Montana and i found myself grinding away at my pipes way before I even touched my pegs. My brother in law has a stock M109 and he ate me for breakfast through some serious twisties (unless we were going through left hand curves!).

Air ride would be nice, so a fella could adjust up for the ride. Slowing down a bit doesn't bug me as much as leaving chrome behind does. Not all pipes share this issue though I am guessing. Over all . . I love my bones! Easy, cheap and within an hour a great aesthetic mod. I agree 100% with the lube comment though. Lube them while assembling because they are hard to get to after the skid plate goes back on.

    Good luck!

As I remember, there're two protruding through the fender shroud and pointed down at the tire. Grind them down while the bike is on the lift, otherwise they're hard to get to.
Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
