Those are amazing to watch. We have a 4 axis CNC router at work, but it's used for woodworking and mostly makes a lot of dust.

Life has no remote control, get up and change it yourself.

I SOOOOO badly miss being a machinist! Timken shut down our tool room and sent the work to a plant in China. I used to setup, program and operate machines like that everyday.

I have 3 CNC machines in my shop. 2 mills (full size Bridgeport and a tabletop Taig) and a lathe. They sure are fun.

A guy could make a small fortune with a Bridgeport and lathe in the garage. What brand lathe do you have? Most of my experience has been with Mazak.

My lathe is a converted Enco. I switch between manual and CNC control in about 10 minutes. I use it manual 95% of the time but I make some parts that are just easier with CNC so I switch it over. I have a few videos of it running parts on youtube. Just search for trpes500.

Watched the videos. Tpres500. That's pretty cool! Did you come up with the conversion yourself?

I'm manual machinist for three years now, currently taking night class to learn CNC.

Cool! I started my first machinist job in '88 after two years of vocational school. Spent 9 years there then went to work for my current employer. They put me through their 4 year apprenticeship which included 3 semesters of college. They spent a pile of money on us then eventually shut down the tool room and outsourced everything to one of their plants in China. Now I'm a grunt in the steel mill.
