The Metzeler is a Marathon ME880 160/60VR18. The 160/260 combo is awesome.

Will the 160 fit stock rim and what do you have to do to the front fender?

Yes it will. As far as fender, you do not need any modification to it but I would suggest to get some fender extensions for it as if you pick up a rock, it makes one heck of a noise & eventually can crack the fender. Do a search for them. Several people make them.
    Good luck👍

Thanks for the advice. If I put a 260 on the rear and run the stock on front would that upset the balance to much?

    Default 160 front

I just had the 160 tire put on, and it looks good, and I used no extensions. The tire was also mounted in reverse. Some say reverse, some say not. You make the call on the extensions and which way you want to have it mounted.

Try the 140/ up front. It rides better then the stock 130/. The 140/ is lots more stable.
What other people think of you is none of your business.

I've been running the Metz 880 vr 160/260 combo for 12,000 miles now and I will never go back. (I picked up a nail so I'm on my second 260.) I have not made any modifications to the fender. I simply loosened the fender bolts, stuck a wedge under the back of the fender between it and the tire and re tightened them. It seems to give me enough room for the occasional pebble, should I run across one. I don't think I have, though.

Oh yeah, run it backwards because it is a rear tire designed to be strongest with acceleration. Front tires are strongest with deceleration( braking). So turn it around when you put it on the front. Makes no difference in the tread pattern anyway from a standard 130 Metz. Of course, no one has had a failure from running it front ways either, your call.

Just installed Metzeler 160/260 combo. Did it myself with Dynabeads and 260 with reversed direction of rotation. No change to fender. 200 miles later and I love it !!!!!
