    Default Too firm Gel Seat??

Just took my first ride after waiting all week for my new full-cut carbon gel seat! The cut alone looked and felt awesome and gave me much more leg room, but you can tell there is less pading on the seat itselt.

After not even a 15 mile ride, my filings almost rattled out and am still getting over a headache from all the bumbs and vibrations. A quick change back to my stock seat felt like riding on air. Anyone else had this issue?? I might have to send my new toys back :(

You've got a break-in period on the gel seats. Oh, And try not to park with the seat in direct sunlight. It'll absorb the heat, and it'll feel like you rubbed BenGay all over your butt.

Felt the same way when I got it. Takes time to break in. I was going to put the original seat back on but...break it in. I would not trade mine now!

That's good to hear, thanks. It felt like I was riding a hard-tail and could feel every pebble I rode over. I did hear that about the heat, though. I'll try to keep it out of the sun.

I love the stiching and embordier of the passenger seat, but the shape and style is hideous. The girl likes the stocker better and I just read that's not even gel anyway!

Which brings up another question- is it going to be like sitting on a rock in cold weather?

The passenger seat is gel too, I've had the cover off to install a backrest and it was gel. Cold weather doesn't affect them.

Mine took a while to break in too, not sure how long since it's been on there almost 5 years now. I did pull the cover off the driver's seat and added a thin layer of memory foam to it to cool it down a little. That gel holds heat for a long ways.

I had one and switched out to a corbin. When I first got the gel, I hated it and was ready to get rid of it. For me, I rode to work and it sat out in the sun one day. The gel got really hot and when I sat on it, it was like it loosened the gel up and it formed around me. It was awesome after that.

Default Gel to Corbin here too..

On my Busa, I had the Gel seat, I had the same problems and asked the same question on hayabusa.org and rec'd the exact same advice.. well over time it did break it but never felt amazing.. so when I got "The Mistress" i wanted it to be amazing and everything I read suggested to get the Corbin Custom rider, rear and back rest.. it was $890 total but actually its "PRICELESS".. first ride 4 hours, wife said she has never felt better... I know it sucks putting $ out on a Gel seat,, but if it keeps bothering you I highly suggest the Corbin.... The stock seat is ok, but the Corbin is cut better around the tank and gave me so much more room that is really comfortable to ride long runs now.. I highly suggest the Corbin Seats..

I couldn't agree more. I took the suzuki gel and sent it o mean city to have them rework it. I asked to move back but they ended up moving me forward due to the extra memory foam. So, this past winter i sold it and put the corbin on and let me tell you, best decision ever!!!! I absolutely love it.

I have a cobin gunfighter and lady seat on the zzr1200 that I just purchased, and I must say it is the hardest seat that I have ever sat on. The position and contour of the seat is great, but I do wish there was more padding. I have gone on a couple of hour long rides, and it was ok, but I might have to get the padding replaced with memory foam if I do a lot of long rides.

It does seem to get a little better after a few rides. Don't need the asprin when I get home as much. The cut is still WAY more comfortable so if it can just absorb the bumps now, it will be good enough for me!

Nope. Still feels like plywood and I feel every bump in the road. Maybe I do need a Corbin.
