    Default Overheating issues

My bike has been overheating for a week now. Replaced the thermostat, radiator cap, flushed the radiator. Still over heating. Fan runs water boils out. Is there any way to see if the pump is working?

Yeah I spent close to fifteen min rocking the bike then adding coolant and repeat.
Can I check the impeller without draining the oil?

Well looking at it I think the oil has to be drained to check the water pump :(

Anyone have an idea for testing the water pump without removing it?

What's it plugged with? How does the coolant look? First time I have heard of someone having this happen

I agree! These bikes are really too new to have an issue like that. Unless when the shop put it together, the water they used was crap. I always used distilled water mixed at 50/50 with antifreeze. I also run redline waterwetter. I was having a problem with a quad overheating. The waterwetter put an end to it. Use it in my truck too. When I lived in PHX I learned about it. Summertimes there are harsh!

It looks like it has calcium and lime deposits like stalagtites and stalagtites inside both the top and bottom. This is the problem with being the second owner you never know what the first guy did.

They should be able to take care of that. That is what happens when tap water is used to mix with the antifreeze. I am the second owner of mine too, I need to check it also. lol

That's why I always use pre-mix coolant. I will use distilled for the flush though.

Im with big-b on this. this would be rare and unusual, and you said in beginning you flushed out radiator? make sure coils on rad are not plugged with dust and debris. really sounds more like pumpbut hopefully rad like you're now saying. good luck and get back on road soon.

I took the pump off and inspected it and it's perfectly clean and working fine. I removed the radiator and couldn't get any water through it.

What do you use and where did you buy it? I think I need to be changing my coolant here pretty soon....it's probably still got the original stuff in it....

I use Maxima Coolanol Anti-Freeze. I know it is more expensive, but I live here in the desert and spend alot of time in Phx too. And I add that Redline WaterWetter. Never had an over heating problem. Stuff works great. And it it protects the freeze side down to -34d, so no worries there either. lol
