Default Braided Custom Clutch cable woes...help!

    Hi,

I installed harley controls on my bike and then upgraded to braided lines all round.

My problem is that the harley clutch cable (universal harley in same shade of braid as the throttle cables) has different ends on it and of course doesnt just interface to the bent tube required for the 9's line to make that final 90 degree turn to the clutch lever.

So, i salvaged the bend, and had a custom cabler mod it to fit.

What a drama its been, first they couldnt replicate the harley loop end, which was then replaced by a billet..finally, and im pretty sure now, after 3 visits to them, the adaptor they fitted to the shortened harley cable conduit/housing - to fit into the 90 degreee bend, is crimped on too tight so now the clutch lever spring isnt strong enough to return the cable!!.

So im looking at going back again, but thuoght, in hindsight (didnt realise itd be such a pain in the butt), that i shouldve asked here for what others have done.

Also, does anyone know if i can purchase just the 90 degree bend on its own?. (yes i know, very unlikely)

How did others go about their clutch cable upgrade?...if possible, any links to where i can go ?..im contemplating forking out the dollars and starting it again from scratch...

    Cheers

Motionpro makes them in different lengths and they are made for the 9 same setup on the ends as stock

Barnnet went with the hd style connectors but are still in r&d mode, maybe you can give them a call for research purposes and try and talk them into selling you one that you can report feedback on. Since you changed your controls they might find the feedback you provide on different aftermarket parts that work with their cables useful! Might be worth a shot!

You snuck the bit about lower risers in there - didn't raise a whimper! Well I am interested - tell us some more about how it goes. I assume you're pretty tall with long arms and like to get down out of the wind - does it work?

    PS I like the colour!

    Cheers,

Try calling Bob at Bob's Custom Cycle. He's been doing things like that for a while.
I think the prefix from Oz is 011-35-219-845-5725
