Default My $1000 109 Make Over M109R Carbon edition **Sneak Pics**

Over time I have gathered some ideas from looking at other 9's hoping I could do something myself individual one day. I was a bit disappointed in Suzuki's lack of vision or ideas with the 2012 Limited Edition looking so much like the 2007 Limited Edition. They are hardly limited editions but the blues are almost identical. Anyway I thought that it was time to do my own limited edition. Something that Suzuki should have done themselves IMHO of course,
So I have a $1000 budget, based on replacing, modifying, painting and maybe some decals. I will update my budget and thread here along with some pics as I go along. My project should be complete in 4-6weeks
    So it begins...

    $1000.00

Seems like you have a lot to do with a little amount of money. It'll be good to see the results. Good luck and have fun.

Don't get me wrong, I like the fact that very few people could tell my 07 from a brand new 12 but it is a bit ridiculous that nothing really changed. Used to the car game when facelifts occur every couple of years.

Clever that you set yourself a tight budget too. If Sly's exhaust mod doesn't make it too loud that would be on my list for an affordable exhaust improvement.

I'm curious to know if they will be updating anything on the 109 for 2013. Other the colors no real changes. Remember the hayabusa came out in 1999 or 2000 and never changed anything till the 2008 model ... 9's have only been around since 2006

Can't wait to see what you come up with. I'm a budget minded guy myself and I'm always looking for the low cost things that make a difference.

Rick, I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with! I thought my project would only take a few weeks too...
$1000 may not seem like a big budget for a nine, but with some ingenuity and old-fashioned elbow grease, you can come up with some pretty cool mods.

P.S. - We've decided to move. House is up for sale and I've sold my practice. We will miss the Pacific NW.

    Mods? Yep; a few.

My project is moving along quite nicely. I should have all of my parts back and ready for reassembly within 2 weeks.day.

I gave myself a $1000 budget with this project plus any other $$$$ I can raise along the way by selling some of parts I'm not going to use in the rebuild.

    So far $1000
    New Mirrors $ 80
    RIS Bling $ 30
    Incidentals $ 50
    Powder coating $ 330
    Secret Squirrel $ 600 (decals)
    $ -90

As it shows my budget is up the **** lol... I got alot more things powdercoated and changed than I thought I would... One could say I went overboard on it. Well hopefully it looks ok. Sometimes less is more, but what the hell I went as far as I could. I expected to have some sneek peek pictures today but I could'nt get the parts. I will get them tomorrow and post a picture or two.

Ok here are some sneak pics. I should have all my bits and pieces together in the next two weeks. As you can see I went down the path of Wrapping some panels and replacing the stripe. FAR more economical than paint and easier to fix the odd stratch. This is my M109R Carbon edition. I hope everyone can see where I'm headed. I still have some surprises up my sleeve but I will wait until the bike is back together and do some full pictures.

I like that I'm starting to see the big picture, are the wheels going to be black and is the exhaust heat shields powder coated or high temp paint?

Lovin' the carbon there buddy! Bye the bye, who's going to put that thing back together?
Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Suzy didn't black the wheels out on LE's until 09/10....depending on your global location.
