    Default Parking Issues

WTF?! My buddy and I rode our 9's downtown Palm Beach this evening. We parked both bikes in one parking space along side the curb in front of a restaurant. Before we even got our helmets off, a parking attendant walked up and said that we could only park one bike in the parking space. He wasn't an arsehole about it. He was actually pretty cool. He said that local residents had complained about several motorcycles being parked in one space and only paying for one vehicle. He also said that if there three bikes parked in one space with time on the meter, he would ticked two of them. I will definitely do some research on this "ordinance". I know the city of PALM BEACH is strapped for cash. NOT! But, have any other riders experienced issues with parking more than one bike in a parking space?

We park two in one space here all the time and never had a problem with it. We back them to the curb and park diagonally in the slot. I see it as you're paying for the space, not the number of vehicles in it.

That was my comment Zoom. You are paying for the space. The attendant said that the meter is for one vehicle. I'll drop by the courthouse tomorrow to review the ordinance.

Seems to me a way for them to control the bike population at any given time in that area, I call bull $h!+ on that and I would bet even though you get a ticket there is no way for them to enforce it. I know I have parked my bike in a spot as described by zoom and have come out to find a bike or 2 parked there with me, now how am I gonna get a ticket when I'm the one who paid for the spot and how do they know who to ticket?

Apparently, here in Vancouver, new bylaws allow multiple motorcycles to share a parking space, as long as they're inside the lines.

However, if the meter expires, then all of the motorcycles in the space are ticketed.

What is not clear, is whether a motorcycle can share a metered parking space with a car.

Suppose a motorcycle drives into an empty spot, and out of courtesy parks towards one end of the spot, or at 90 degrees. A problem arises if a small car comes along later and squeezes in. A parking attendant could assume that the car was there first, and then ticket the bike.

It seems situations like these are not spelled out in the bylaws, and I think they leave it up to the parking attendants somewhat to decide. (not a good thing)

Until I find the answer, I have no choice but to park my bike in an empty metered parking space as if I am a full sized car, and hog as much of the space as I can. (If other bikes can squeeze in, so be it.)

who decides which two will be ticketed !!! i think he is full of dudu!!! as long as the meter got the dough its is none of his business if you want to share the parking spot. its not like you had a dozen bikes it was just two!!!!!

In new hope, PA they actually have a few designated motorcycle only spaces at the curb. As many bikes as you can put in the space and only pay the one meter.

We can't win. If we take up 2 spots with 2 bikes, then people complain about it.

Key West is very Biker friendly. Not only do they allow multiple bikes in a parking spot they actually have many marked "motorcycle only" designated areas. I actually saw last year a automobile being towed from a motorcycle only area.

we too have some motorcycle parking here in saint pete. bastards put meters on each slim spot. but we do get away with multiple bike in a car spot all the time. and ive had biker friends park with my extended cab truck in the same spot and no grief as of yet. long as the meters paid up. should be fine.

Your biggest issue is double Gerbil parking.

So far, up here, nothing like that has happened to me or any friends. Actually, last weekend in Plymouth we had 4 bikes in one spot.

Get about 100-150 bikers together go down and take every space and sit there all day. When it comes time to change spots just move the bikes around. I figure the residents will get the picture on why you want more than one bike parking in a spot.

That looks like a solution to me.

Thats how I see it. You can park an SUV with third row seating full of people in one of those places you should be able to put a couple of bikes.

In one city here in Michigan they limit it to 3 bikes per parking spot. Any more than that and someone gets a ticket. It is the officers choice who and he generally tries to estimate who was last to the party.

Three of us parked in one spot in Cape May, NJ. We were 5 min. past due on the meter and we all got $40.00 tickets.

xSky...I used that as part of my logic. He countered with the "One Vehicle" response. I also stated that the more spaces available for other cars means more business for the merchants. He went back to the "One Vehicle" response.

Nobody wants to see that movie. It probably exists already in Big P's sick and demented library of small animal defiling.

Apparently you are very good friends with "she's an idiot 109". I am used to your weak attacks...like his. Pathetic is probably to big a word for him to understand, but I am sure you will. Do you want me to use it in a sentence for you?

    1) It is pathetic that TROD has goats and sheep as sex slaves
    2) It is pathetic that TROD has pipes on his bike that are so long that he must pay for two parking spaces.
    3) It is pathetic that TROD put trombones on his fork tubes because he hated the fact that he would have to mount the stebel inside his headlight.
    4) It is pathetic that TROD forgot to put his dipstick on when doing last oil change and had a beautiful fountain of 10w40 spraying throughout his shop.
    5) It is pathetic that TROD still tries to engage in friendly and not so friendly insults, but repeatedly gets owned.
    6) It is pathetic that the only people that actually like TROD are the users who have yet to sign up.
    7) It is pathetic that I could go on and on and on.

Big P is no friend of mine. He's a massive jackwad. If I ever meet the little bastard I think I'm gonna pound him senseless.

Or maybe he is my friend.
