I've got the NITTO NT 555 Extreme ZR 265/35 ZR 18. Love it.
As far as fighting with the bars the tire will soften up. I've been on mine for I think two months now and its getting better. The tire is slowly rounding out to get rid of the flat feeling. I'm hitting the drag pins now and its not braking loose. I'm starting to feel out braking it loose on starting out in first touching peg and hammer to see if i can brake her loose and do the side slide. I'm trying to go into it slow. Only thing I think about is if i go to low that the tire will wash out.
I'm playing more and more. Little steps so I don't get myself into something i can't get out of. lol.
If this tire last two years i'll be a happy camper. Oh yea, I payed 191.00 for this tire.
I didn't think you would have to grind on the shaft cover going to the 275/.
I'll have to take a pic of the rim and tire at the bead. I like the way it fits to the smaller rim. It raps around the rim to the side wall like it was met for a smaller rim.
These tires do have lots more meat then the bike tires. Now why can't they do it with a bike tire?
I was going throw two 280 Metz tire per year at 280.00 per tire. I was not happy.

Thanks for the pics. I was trying to see if the 275 you have was the widest you could go, or if maybe a 285 would squeeze in there. I was also concerned about how it fit on the rim. I hate when you can see the rim sticking out past the sidewalls, kinda like a 240 on the stock 8 1/2 inch rim. I get about 6000 miles out of a rear tire, and I average 1000 miles a month. At $600 a year, maybe the darkside might ease the pain on the wallet. Just checking my options. Thanks again.

Interesting thread and thanks for the information.
I am thinking of going darkside, but want to drop in a set of 2'' lowering bones.
Will this work and does any one have this set up?
TIA

Thank you Mr Nemo.
I'm runnin a 245/45 Bridgestone Portenza the size heals the speedo nicely. The cost was $220, I mounted it myself, 3 oz of balance stuff. Im happy. Lookin to get 20,000 plus miles. Thats the point
The nights you can't remember are the nights you'll never forget
I run Bridgestone in the front and it does last longer. It does ware the sides first if you got the two compound tire. I like the tire. Be interesting to see how the back tire does.

How many miles do you all get using a car tire on The 9,
And what about uneven wear?![]()
I have a question, when your turning or or in a lean arrent you riding the sidewall of the car tire?![]()
]
The side wall flexes and you don't actually ride on the side wall to a certain extent. That being said. when coming out of a hard slow turn and getting on it in first or second I know that my tire will momentarily ride the sidewall but for only a short time under extreme load. Even after 18000 miles of twisties and hard riding I had very little wear on my sidewalls and very even wear across the face of the tread.

You're welcome, See ya on da utter side LOL
I just went for a ride and saw 3 crotch rockets zoom up behind me, either they didn't know how to ride or didn't want to bother with me, but I left them in the dust. They would get close on the twisties but after that I was a dream. The back tire hooked up so good, and i was throwing all kinda sparks off the pegs, pushing it hard. I bet they got a great light show LOL. I am sold on the car tired nine,,,,,,,,,,,,

I don't see myself going back. I know the flat feeling is slowly going away.
I've been pushing it more and more in the corners dragging pin. I can't believe how well it handles. I'm going to get the Nitto 275/ for the 07.
I see a club coming on.![]()

Could also pump The air up 3 or 5 pci. I'd try one at a time. If you do both and it fixes it? You don't know witch one fixed it.
I love trouble shooting.

Pretty sure it is the shock setting. Did the same thing with bike tire when I pushed it hard. No big,,,,,,,,

Sorry, I missed this on your post.
With comparing the Dunlop to the 280, it was 1/4" wider overall.
My 280 had less than 1/16" clearance to my swingarm, so before I attempted to install it I took a grinder to it to make sure it had clearance.
probably could have gotten away with another 1/16", but I took off the casting numbers to make smooth and add extra clearance.

Big O is the rim 8 1/2" or 10" ?
