    Default Race Gas Anyone?

If you are going to toss a power commander on your bike, why not tune it for racing fuel? If it will let you do dual maps, you could tune one for regular gas as well. Anyone doing this? What kind of gains?

Race gas will do nothing in an internally stock motor. In fact, it will probably lose power with it.

I agree, besides being a waste of money.

Well, it's not like it won't do anything. It will run. I phrased that original response poorly.

Not all that true. Depending on what gas you run. The top end will benefit from leaded gas, valves will seat better. Ive never ran straight leaded, I run a 50/50 mix with 93 pump and sunoco blue 112. If you run a 50/50 mix, its not worth getting two maps done. Just get the bike tuned with the 50/50 mix and use the map for both pump and mixed.

Oh and you must not run the stock exhaust with leaded gas.

Mmm race fuel smells great. I think if you tune with 93octane with only bolt-ons, retuning for 100+octane wont do much=$ per hp. I know cars are slightly diff but i had an fuel injected 5.0 with nitrous(in a ford explorer)SCT tuned for 87-93-104 race fuel. The motor had no internal work i got the best results tune with nos and 93. Every scenario changes things, altitude, temp, humidity.

If you run nitrous then higher octane is probably a benefit and will help to prevent engine destruction when the laughing gas is turned on.

Depending on the type of race gas used, you can gain between 7-10 hp on a stock motor. Must be tuned to the fuel! Try VP u4.4, MRX01 (if using nitrous and motor), MR9, or MR12. These fuels are between $15 to $25 per gallon but produce POWER!! I run MRX01 in my bikes and love it but it not cheap. You also need to drain the fuel out of the tank if not going to use it all before you park your bike.

It was a dual feed wet system. If it wasnt a wet system then yes.

Couldnt you get 7-10hp just out of a tuner? So your sayin possibility of 20 hp tuned on r fuel? On a stock bike? Not tryin to be a a$$ just a question. I dont know everything, just what i have delt with.

It will run differently. The higher the octane rating, you will feel it. Never dynoed my Ninj on race gas vs 93, but I know it ran a whole lot smoother. I might try it on the M and note my impressions. If you wanna have fun put 50/50 E85 and 93 octane in. It will bring your MOR to around 100 or so. Bike runs sooooo smooth. Ehtanol is a great fuel system cleaner too. Not every day, but once in awhile.

I asked if anyone has tuned their motor for race fuel. Typically, the higher RON will allow you to advance the timing and achieve a bit more power. True, race fuel will not help a motor not built for it but if our motor uses a knock sensor to adjust timing the ECU might push timing more with higher RON.
