Default came home on a flatbed ...

    son of a bitch ...

went to alki beach, had a cup of coffee and bike would not start. 4 hours later (Thanks Ken for riding out and taking a look) i came home on a flatbed now i gotta figure out wtf is wrong and fix it ...

upside = met some really cool bikers who went above and beyond to help, all stuck around until we loaded the bike and took off.

i posted a thread under the shop talk section but i'll copy and paste it here too:
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ok so the info first:

    2007 m109 with 4800 miles
    fuses are good
    bike is in neutral
    kill switch to on
turn the key, lights come on everything looks good to go
pull the clutch in, fuel pump does not prime.
    cranks over but won't start.
only mod is an ATRE. no fuel management or anything of that sort.
took the battery cable off and reconnected to reset the ecu but did not help.

    now onto what happened:

I start the bike and go for a 20 mile ride, park and have a cup of coffee. about half hour later i get on the bike and the above happened.

lifted the tank to check for the infamous wire that i've read works it's way out of the connector and everything looks and feels tight.

when i went to start it it sounded like it started for about half a second and then shut off. it seems like an electrical connection of some sort not sending juice to the fuel pump. or the switch that tells the bike the clutch is pulled in stopped working. or the tip over sensor is bad.

i guess it's not unheard of for a fuel pump to go bad, but at 4800 miles?

any suggestions or input is appreciated.

Test light the clutch switch , I doubt the pump is bad, but it's possible

If you have checked the plug and fuses and all look good and check the wire with a test light I would have to say bad pump. If you tern the key on and you don't hear the pump I would tend to say pump is junk.

    Brown connector under the tank
different wire not making contact = different outcome .
May look good from the outside ,
undo the connector and see inside for burnt stuff.

It ran fine until you added the ATRE? Well then, that is a good place to start, remove it and see what happens. Then I would check all the wiring and connections. I actually had installed my ATRE and it is right near the exhaust manifold, well it got hot and burned a wire to ground. Something to think about.

ATRE was installed last year but i'll check it for bad connection or burned wire.

last night was the first time i lifted the tank and that was to check for that very wire.

looking at the wiring diagram now gonna check the socket for power, if i get power to the socket then the fuel pump is bad.
