Default Paying It Forward, just like the movie?

The funniest thing happened to me this AM. I needed to go to the PO to return an item that was damaged in shipping. So I thought that I go through the McDonalds drive thru and get some chow first. When I went to pay for my breakfast the teller said that the lady in the car in front of me paid for it. I said, OK, I must know her but didn't recognize the car. So I pulls up along side this lady and asked her to roll down her window and no I didn't recognize her. So I asked her why she paid for my meal and she says that she just paying it forward, like in the movie. I was flabbergasted yet fully understood the concept. So I thanked her and went about my business. On the way home I stopped to get a soda and while waiting in line I noticed this elderly guy start to purchase a pack of Marlboro's so I said to the cashier, hey those smokes are on me. This guy turns around and says, why did you do that? I could've paid for them. I said, just paying it forward, like in the movie. He must've seen the movie because he smiled like the Chesher Cat and thanked me. Man, and did it ever feel good. I know that acts of charity are supposed to be done annomously and Kat and I do them frequently but it still felt good. I think that I'm going to continue paying it forward a couple of times a week. The feeling you get from it is indescribable. You never know it might catch on, like in the movie.

    Default pay it forward...

Another board I am on has a Pay It Forward thread. the person that started it had some parts to give to the first respondent, with the stipulation that the recipient had to pay it forward by giving something they had as a gift to someone else that replied to the thread.

I think that thread is at least three years old

Have you watched the Movie? The idea was not just to buy something for someone that had the means to buy it themselves. It was to do something for someone that they could not do and try and give them a leg up. I just wanted to point that out. But I'm sure people appreciate the kindness. The only kindness I have gotten from strangers over the last week was when one guy gave me the finger after he just missed me on my bike. He was turning left at a light and I was going straight. And he was an older guy in a fairly small town.

Yup and it was a veiled attempt to counter your criticism with a compliment, either way the point was many in this thread are giving him crap for doing something nice I just happened to quote your post, but could've quoted several other as well. I have to 2nd a point made in another thread so much negativity lately in several new posts. Who pissed in everyone's wheaties today?

I was trying to do a pay forward at a grocery store. Had a what looked like a 80 year old lady counting change in her pears. As she's counting she starts to put stuff off to the side that she couldn't pay for. So i tell the cashier to put it all throw and i would pay.

The little old lady almost freaks out so we let it go.

I felt bad, not only for her but for all older people. Is this what we have to look forward to.

WE THE PEOPLE HAVE TO TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK.

I have worked for more the 40 years hard labor just to have the gov slap you in the face.

Makes me want to yell out my window.

I have put in lots of money into the gov and i want it. Its not easy working with the SSI. They don't want to give it up. They will try to find any excuse to not have to pay you.

Your right Mr Tbar. It does feel good. Not so much the work or the pay forward. Its the faces. The smiles. The look of people doing good things for others.

Its something we as people have lost. We are so bent on saving our self's living week to week. At this time is when we need to pay forward.

We have that pay forward thing here on this forum. We have seen it.

    Its what makes the forum.
