Default How do you CC when riding?

WARNING: this is not a post to debate the topic of Concealed Carry. This is a post for CCers to share their set ups and tips. Thanks :-)

So I'm in MN and have my CCW Permit. I am trying to find an alternative to my normal every day carry set up. I normally carry my Glock 23 ( Gen 4 :-D ) in a Cross Breed Supertuck. But I've noticed flying down the high way no matter how tight my shirt is tucked in; sometimes it comes flying up and exposing my Glock.
I also don't like the look of saddle bags and wouldn't want to park at a busy mall or something, pull a gun out of my saddle bags and holster it (even though it would be perfectly legal, but the whole point is out of sight is out of mind). I've seen one member (forgot the username) that uses the corbin smuggler, which looks like a great idea, but again the whole holstering in plain view kind of spooks me.
I thought maybe someone knew of a discreet shoulder carry harness or something they could share?
I look forward to hearing from anyone.

    Cheers

I know it is your given right to bear arms but WTF is up with you crazy Americans? Do you seriously need to carry a gun with you at all times? WTF am I getting myself into by moving there for 6 years? Per capita Canadians have more guns than Americans but we do not carry them around with us at all times. You guys seriously need to sort out your ***** ... no freakin wonder your schools have metal detectors and kids blow each other away ... you bring it all on yourselves.

Hell, I am a military man and NEVER think I need to carry a gun with me.

Just my 2 cents ... you guys scare me.

Look into a "belly band" style holster. You can wear it positioned high under your ARM while riding and when you get to where your going pull it down so it more comfortable and easier to get to if needed.

thank you for your two cents.....while others may sit quietly by ( this is a subtle reference to YOU) and think harm cannot come to them and i seriously hope it never does...there are those of us that dont share that warm fuzzy feeling whether justified by past events or whatever....the fact is, we in america have the RIGHT to bear arms and one ideal i adhere to is if you dont exercise a right, then someone ultimatly will find a way to take it away from you.

another fact is that you are correct, its a jungle down here....please tell me again why you want to move here ?

as for the intent of this thread...i carry in an ankle holster. i wear the red wing boots and carry a little kal-tek 380. fits like a charm.

I wear a vest everywhere I ride so I have a shoulder holster for my Smith and Wesson 9mm and my Taurus PT140 .40 Caliber.

And to answer the dumbass above who asked why us Americans feel like we need to carry guns everywhere. It's our Constitutional Right to Bear Arms. I can't carry a cop everywhere I go, so I carry a gun. Plus when seconds matter, the police are minutes away. I don't trust anyone to lookout for me in a dire situation except me. I will defend myself and my family in all cases no matter what.

Not sure i get the ankle holster ...Guess its better than being unarmed, but if a bad situation arises, wouldn't it be to late by the time you reached down to your ankle, giving the perpetrator some valuable time to do away with you....

interesting topic...im sure its just a matter of time before we will be allowed to carry up here in the great white north

When its warm I wear a leather holster vest that I picked up for about $70. If its colder I use the inside pocket of my regular riding jacket. You wont draw anywhere near as quick as a hip holster but it will be concealed and secure. I used to wear it on the right side of my back on a belt holster that I slid over. The drawback is your shirt flipping up and any sharp edges will start to wear through your shirt if you try to keep it tucked in. A buddy of mine keeps a kl-tec 380 in his back pocket. Its thin enough that you can sit down without it being uncomfortable.

I believe this is the same vest I bought. They have a few to choose from.

You can also look into a CC shirt made by 5-11 Tactical wear it fits like an underarmer shirt with gun pockets on both sides for right or left hand just saw it at a Bass pro shop they also have a cool vest with hidden gun slots, these clothes are made just for guys and gals who carry.

Fanny pack easy access if I need to draw from bike and it's always on my person it may not look HoT but hell it works
Bc if you need to draw quickly alot of holsters are not going to work its a good idea but it a real life situation it's just not going to work out

Although I carry a badge next to my weapon, carrying can be a problem with riding. Try that 511 under shirt that was mentioned above. Only thing is, the 23 may be a bit too big for that shirt. The 27 would work or something smaller. I too carry a 23 and I am thinking about getting a vest but if I do then I may carry the 27.
When it comes to riding and carrying, there are not too many options out there. You need to find what works for you. I found an untucked tshirt works pretty good if it's long enough no to ride up with the wind.

Why conceal it?? Folks see me coming, they don't even think about messin wit me.......

Default It's a personal thing but...

I have been carrying concealed for more than 12 years. Started off with a full sized 1911 then went thru several sub-compact models (just don't care for the smaller framed pistols) and ending up with my current choice of a Glock 19. I prefer to carry behind my strong side hip using an IWB holster by Comp-Tac. If you have concerns that your shirt rides up in the wind and exposes your favorite hog-leg, here's another choice for you..it's called the "Air Marshal" holster and I have a few friends who swear by this style of carry. It doesn't work particularly well for me but you might find it does for you. It a molded Kydex holster worn suspend across your chest by nylon webbing and adjustable. Check out this link for one:

I've used a tank bags in the past, but then you've got the issue of getting the weapon into and out of it sight unseen (unless it's one of the back pack kind). If you're wearing any kind of jacket, and depending on how tight it is...........pretty much any shoulder rig will do (I favor Roy Aker horizontal crossdraws). Any inside the wasteband/SOB rig will work if the jacket you're wearing isn't going to flap and ride up. 5.11 (as noted) and Blackhawk both make concealed cary shirts of various types (mini nines and smaller pretty much), I've got a concealment leather vest (can't remember the brand or where I got it from) that works great for mini nines and smaller. Try searching for concealed carry vests...............that should bring some stuff up. Good luck!

In the cooler months I carry a larger calibre (.45 ACP Glock 30SF) and is easier to conceal, but in the summer I carry my LCP in a pocket holster in my front right pocket. I know the .380 isn't the best round but it's very concealable and it's better than nothing.

Usually I carry in my gun vest http://www.bikersden.com/p-2813-mens...st-mfg-co.aspx
    when not wearing a vest
http://www.kangaroocarry.com (standard II) and then my shirt is usually a button or snapbutton style instead of T-shirt/Polo styles for easier access and when wearing longer shirts untucked (Polo styles) it's a Galco Silhouette High Ride http://www.usgalco.com/HolsterPG3.as...=965&GunID=175 as it is easy to tuck the shirt under my butt when riding to keep it from flying up.

When clothing really dictates what kind of carry (Hot temps) I drop down to a small ruger LCP .380 or Keltec .32 in a pocket.

I personally don't care for inside the waistband holsters as I just find them uncomfortable for me.

btw I usually carry a Kimber Ultra Raptor II or Glock 27 (.40 or Sig357 conversion barrel installed)

Isn't MN an open carry state if you have a concealed carry permit? Michigan is an open carry state with or without a permit. I carry concealed most of the time but if my pistol shows I could care less. I have open carried many times, most people never notice.

I use to carry a Glock 19 but in warmer weather it can be a problem if you don't wear a jacket. A while back, I picked up a diamondback 380 from my neighbor who is a LEO Glock dealer. He had some of these and I picked it up very reasonable. I carry it in my pants pocket. It is really compact & easy to conceal.

if it's not convient to conceal i just wear it on my belt and if it's seen thats ok. just being seen may b enough to deter an event.
