Okay, how do you get the rear rotor on after chroming?
Now that the wheel has been chromed, the diameter of the center piece the rotor is supposed to slide over is too large for the hole in the rotor. I've tried sanding it and filing it, but nothing seems to be putting a dent in the chrome. How do you get enough off to put the rotor back on?
If I remember correctly, we shaved the edges of the rotor to make it fit. Used a grinding stone on a dremmel. That was a year and a half ago though. I'm sure others will chime in. I don't think you wanna fool w/ the chrome, you might start something that won't stop. As in the finish peeling.

The tolerance is close on the rotors and after you chrome the rim it does not fit.
I used the spindle sander at work to open up the center of the rotor.
A dremel will work.
Don't wory about keeping the tolerence, the bolts will center it back in place on the rim.

The dremmel will be a good buy for doing mods on the 9. I've used it on three separate mods, and still have more to come. Silver lining? This wont be the only time you use it!Originally Posted by grampi

You might want to try using some sand paper around the rotor center opening. It might take you a bit longer but that is the cheaper alternative to investing in a Dremel you will probably never use againCrap...more ***** I gotta go buy...why can't anything be simple?.
Thing is, I used to have a dremel and someone stole it right out from my garage. Still have the case and all the attachments...I just want the scooter back togeether so I can ride!
I took a sanding drum mounted on a drill and went around the inside of the rotor. I think I shaved off .020-.030 of an inch off. Just mic the rear rim portion so you know what to sand it down till. Make sure that you sand enough so that the rotor seats 100%.
$75 and a dremel tool later and the rotor is on! Oh well, it isn't like I just bought something I'll never use again....is the 9 a money pit or what?

why wouldn't you reset the caliper and rebleed the system and put it on as isor is the chrome that thick

The chrome was keeping the rotor from fully seating on the rim, so when I tried tightening down the screws, the rotor was actually crooked....why wouldn't you reset the caliper and rebleed the system and put it on as is
