Default Fine Scratches in Chrome Pipes - Remedy?

I noticed when I put my BUBs on, that there are some fine scratches in the chrome. More aggressive than a standard polish, has any one had any success in getting getting some of these scratches out? Just looking for some tips and ideas with real world application. Old Wives tales accepted!

Try some really fine (I think 0000) steel wool.

If you have access to a buffer you can buff some of them out. Use very fine rouge, such as white, and don't press hard enough to burn the chrome.

Chrome is very hard and would be difficult to buff out by hand if the scratches are very bad.

I've used steel wool before and I should give that ago on these pipes. Thanks for reminding me . . . I should be clear, they aren't deeply scratched, but there are some rub marks from footwear, and little inconsistancies (spelling) with the finish that I'd like to polish up . . . .
