Angry WHAT'S WITH THE TIRE PRICES?!

Is it just me? But it looks like, speaking for the {Dunny E-3}. Has gone from $155.00 prior to Christmas, to $189.00 today, or HIGHER! What gives? Jake wilson seem to all-ways kick butt on tire prices, but now I DON'T KNOW! Anyone shopping tires? If so who has the deal?

I realize that but a 25% bump! I'm shocked, let I realize prices don't go down much ever! But it's nearly a $50.00 hike, per motorcycle tire Seems a bit much to me, but it is what it is.

I guess because tires are a petroleum product? All's I know is it was sticker shock to put tires on my truck this week

Newby here,, I've found JP Cycles to be pretty good on tire prices. They have a good variety to chose from
and The website it fairly user friendly.

I bought a rear 250 last year from DLP but ckg around for a front 130/70R18 looks like Dennis Kirk may have the best price of $122+., usually like to deal with site sponsor if close but $40+ is quite a difference.

I think tires in general have gone up at least 25% over the last 12 months. I was checking on tires for the wife's car in early january. The price on the same set this week is $150 more. Now I set with a car, 2 trucks, and 2 motorcycles that all need tires in the next 2-3 months. Guess I shouldn't have waited

Not sure if that will clear the fender. It will be taller than the 160/60 that a lot of people run and that barely clears the fender.

It won't work without some modifications to raise the front fender. I remember when Rainey had that size on his bike and melted the front fender.

If you run the /60 it will rub at high speeds. I think my next front tire will be a /50 if I can find one. I can't stand having to change things around just to put a bigger tire on the bike. If it don't fit a stock bike i don't want it.

True, true. Maybe the fact that tires are actually made of the shyt gives tire manufactures an excuse to up the price?
You're right, EVERYTHING seems to cost a lot more these days

I always buy my tires from bike bandit but i get a 10% or 20% discount with AMA. I know everyone like those dunnies but i can't stand them, so i always pay a little more and buy Avons. The price of the Avon tires really hasn't gone up as bad as the E3's. I'll be placing an order for front and rear Avons for $377 shipped in the next week or so. That price has been the same since thanksgivings.

I have heard it from several bike shops and tire places. Could be a rumor.

05-25-2011, 05:02 PMI just got off the phone with the MotorcycleSuperstore.com wanting to order (for the third year in a row), another set of these: (I have been very happy with them!)

    Dunlop Elite 3 Front Tire
    Color - --, Size - 150/80H-16
    SKU# 157506 On Order $106.99 1 $106.99

Dunlop Elite 3 Tour Rear Tire
    Color - --, Size - MV85HB-15
    SKU# 119995 Approved $130.99 1 $130.99

But, I was informed that the Touring Elite III Rear Tire has been discontinued, and they said that it wasn't replaced with another model. What's up with that?

So, I figured that I would go back to the Avon Venoms (which I also like a lot), but they want $76.00 more for the Avons than I paid for the T.E. IIIs last year.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a different model comparable to either the T.E. III, or the Avon Venom, or a different dealer I should check-out? I have tried Metzler's, but don't really want to go back to them.

    Thanks guys & Be Safe!
    Pete.

Dennis Kirk is funny, well I guess they are all, I just ordered Dunlop Q2's for my TLR from Motorcycle Superstore, got them in one day free shipping and they where 165 bucks less than DK, but I just checked the e-3 250 there and its 50 bucks more than DK. I do know they price match but I always feel you should buy from the people brave enough to show the lowest price.

I can't see Dunny discontinuing the E3 without replacing it with a different model. That is a very popular tire, and with good reason...

If you have to ask why tire prices are going up 25%, then you might want to start paying some attention to what in the h^ll is going on in this country!
