Default Big City Thunder Monster Baffles

Hope this help those that are curious on how to install the baffles. After the install, the bike sounded better with deeper dragster sound and louder. I'll have to ride it a couple of mile to actuall give a better review.

I been considering them. You got them for your Swepts? Give up some details, part #, cost? Did you call to order them? Did you just slide them in from the back of the pipe to install? How long did they take to arrive?

    Thanks

Oh I wouldn't be getting them to suppress the noise, as I like the loud, but to change the tone to a deeper note like Tigz stated. You still have them?

I'm curious on these as well...can you maybe post a video of the baffles on your dragsters? I de-baffled mine and they are WAY too loud. And I don't particularly care for the sound at highway RPMs either.
Next mods list: intakes, air ride, down & under brakes, galfers, braided lines, more chrome

B: all I can say is WOW. As you know I I took the baffles out of the swepts since I installed it. It's loud and proud, but a bit raspy. Also, I felt
That I lost some bottom end torque. After I installed the BCT baffles and started the bike, I notice that the raspiness was gone. The swepts sounded throaty and just as loud. Revving it sounded like a top fuel dragster. Papadog was right on when he said get it. I'll have to ride the bike and adjust the Cobra f1200r an lean it out a bit. As per instructed by the tech at BCT.

Now the install was pretty easy. As in the vid, I inserted the baffles in all the way til it butted on the inner pipe inside the muffler of the swepts leaving the baffles in, i then measured from the tip of the pipe to the baffle. Then measure again from the outside of the pipe an made a mark. Put the baffle in the mark and hole mark for the retaining screw of the baffle. Reinsert the baffle and screw it on. Use red loctite.

For ordering: you can do it by phone or online.
the outside diameter of the swepts muffler is 2.5" in dia.

The parts # they sent me was 2001 but it was for a 2" - 2 1/8" pipe. When I spoke to Jim from BCT, he said that it doesn't make a difference since the inner pipe is less than 2". So, you may order the next size up. He offered it to me, but as stated, it wont make a difference.

Time if arrival: I ordered mine Monday and got it Wednesday via UPS with a free T-shirt.

    Hope that helps.

Nice, thanks. So you didn't remove the pipes right, just slide them in from the back? What video?

B: all I remove was the shields. According to BCT placement is very important as to how the baffles will perform. Some just install them where the swepts baffles were located. I was told to install them farther in as it is designed to.

The vid I attached to my

yeah, I had to drill another hole for the set screw for the new baffles. I had mine at 13" in on the top pipe and 12 1/8" on the bottom pipe.

Great vid thanks. I wonder what happens if you mount them at the end of the pipe where the stock baffles were mounted.

According to Papadog, another board member from Phat Boyz, the bike have no problem and his throttle response and power as noticable change. His Uncle Pedro, as he calls his mechanic, said that he intalled it at the end of the pipes where the original baffles were and played with the cobra fueler a little. Exactly what Jim from BCT told me. "After intsalling the baffles, let it idle for a few minutes and take it for a ride. Lean out the fueler(whichever type you have) and as you ride the bike the ECU will get a better reading on how the exhaust is performing. As for me, I can't go for a ride due to the weather, but by the way he was talking and reading the reviews on the baffles, I may take his word for it. They've also done a lot of test and Dyno to prove the results. SO, if you're gonna get one install it the way they desinged it to be installed.

Tigz, great video. Thanks for doing it as I always wondered what those looked like inside. I'm thinking one of G-Man's lollipops may do the same thing, and be a bit cheaper.

I wouldn't wait for the ECU to adapt to the exhaust. BCT probably thinks we have O2 sensors, which would let the ECU tune itself a little, but we don't so it's all up to us.

I was thinkin about the ECU earlier. I'll have to call them back and ask. I do know that I'll have to lean it out a bit.

Yeah, just mention that you don't have O2 sensors and he will understand. They sell a lot of those to HD riders and all their newer models have O2 sensors.

I mess around with pipes a lot, and anytime you add restriction you need to lean it out a little. I've had 4 different baffles in the Speedsters on mine and all of them took some tweaking. A set of quiet cores almost took it back to stock settings on my Cobra FI2000R. From the bluing on your Swepts, I'd say you were running just a little on the lean side as it was, so it may run fine with the baffle in it.

just ordered these today, curiosity got me, I want to see what they sound like and if they are any better sounding than my modified baffles in my swepts. Thanks for posting this , been wanting to try them ever since I bought my swepts a couple years ago and this thread kicked me in gear.

Not sure what they will send me, I just told them my application and they knew what I was talking about and set me up.

It will be interesting to see if they sound better than my baffles, I put alot of work into mine.

One thing for sure...the exhaust is now throaty and sounds like a dragster when revved. No more raspiness. I thought the cobras were loud without the baffles.... Was I wrong.

took my big city baffles back out after about 50 miles of riding. Didn't like the sound at highway speeds, Sounds hollow and cheap. Put my modified baffles back in and I am way Happier.

All the way in. Idle and cruising under 3000 rpms was great. Not the rest. But you have to hear mine to know why I don't like the big city's. Put mine back in and it was so much better, not quite as loud, but better quality sound.

I'll have to have my brother or someone ride my bike and ride behind, so I can hear it for myself. I rode with a couple of people today and was told that the pipes sound great and loud from the back. I'll ride behind and mount a the take a video of the ride...I'll have to hear it for myself.
