    All Right, Dave!!

Actually, though, we are going to post this in the General Section as a sticky (if we can get the moderators to do that for us!) and start a registration process much like Ryan is doing for MAM...which I am currently registered for as well!! Hmmm...Hope I can do both...but this one will take precedence for me, I think.

A little more refining and we will post it on the main board...so stay tuned.

Marco, not sure I understood your comments about H58...I thought it was newly paved all the way, or was that just a small section those guys were talking about? Or are you talking about EAST of Grand Marais that it may be unpaved? There will be NO gravel on this trip!!

I haven't ridden around the UP too much so I don't have any specific comments.

    The maps look good.
    Nick,

What Marco is saying is absolutely the truth...the road was terrible...huge gaping potholes and all sorts of broken pavement and gravel and crap in the road...not a fun ride!! The best part of the ride is before Cross Village anyhow...and hopefully we can get to Legs Inn for dinner or lunch...but I presume dinner...it is a neat place to eat.

Yea, I didn't know whether you guys ran that section or not. I doubt it is on the MDOTs list of roads to get redone either.

The Seney stretch might be a bit boring too, but you gotta pound some miles sometimes. That is heavily patrolled and generally very bad to do at night (deer).

I remember the last time they redid it. It only lasts a summer. It takes such a pounding in the winter. It's mostly sand dunes through there.

From Munising to Grand Marais is the new road. Last summer H58 east of Grand Marais was gravel or at least partly gravel. I'll find out at work tonight and let you know tomorrow.

OK, cool...either way, I can't show it on the Google Map I posted...so it shows us taking 28...which is good enough for now as it ties the Tahq Falls stop to the Marquette stop...

The whole trip (route) is notional as it stands, so what the map shows may be close, but not necessarily exact...and it probably won't ever be exact.

    It gets us close, though.

So, when do you think I should post this in the "General" section?

You could do it now, I think you have enough info to get people interested. I'll add some hotel info to the thread later. I want to find hotel info, things to do in the area. I'm sure people don't want to just go to their rooms and go to sleep. The one thing I'm not sure about is if there is hotels close to the Porcupine Mountain State Park. I might have to look to the next town along the route for that. It would be cool if we could get people close enough to hang out around a bon fire to tell stories and have a few brewskies. I just informed wifey that she was going with me next year. She never had any interest in the Dragon or mountain roads and she definitely wasn't going to ride to Colorado with me. This is close enough to home and she's always wanted to go to the Porcupine Mountains.

Cool! I wish (and told her so just yesterday) that mine would go...but riding on the back of the 9 for more than about an hour is too much for her long legs. 4-5 days of pounding the pavement would kill her!

Now to find someone to carry stuff for me!! hehehe

OK, I will start a thread in the General Section and see if I can get a moderator to make it a sticky...

Did you ever think of her maybe driving ahead in her vehicle with a couple fo her girlfriends? She could enjoy the nightly activities, camaraderie and still be with her honey. If she does this I'm sure my wifey would ride with her on occasion.

I doubt it will be made a sticky. The MAM never was. Somehow, they got the International Meet to be a sticky. What puzzles me is why neither of those were ever in the MC events forum....

If anyone has a cargo carrier that goes on the top of vehicles, I can remove my dog box and pull my trailer for everyone's crap.

Maybe by then I'll have one of the new trailer/hitches from David...who knows.
