    Default Mntsnow in the news

Though the news report is not about him, and is a very somber report, it was interesting to see one of our riders front and center on the video clip in this news report:

You don't even need to start the video, just take a look at the still shot.

Wow.....Let me tell you what an honor it was to be present for the escort. We arrived to the Air National Guard base by the SLC Airport to receive Jordan and the proceed to "Take Him Home One Last Time", and by that statement it is so very true.... The escort route we took with his families permission and heartfelt graditude, did in fact take him Home! Right to the front of his family home where the escort came to a complete stop right in front of the home and then after a moment of silence we then proceeded on to the funeral home. In the Video it where it shows the missing man formation is just before we arrived to his home and then shows the "back of the pack" passing in front of the home after the stop for the family was completed... Personally I think the news did a great job in it's editing of the video and letting the most special and heart strings pulling moments be edited out..... It was an emotionally charged day and it's days like this I'm most willing to burn a vacation day for....It's amazing to see many a "mean biker" who really has to hide behind our/their sunglasses as tears of graditude fall from the biggest and meanest of them all.....

In the Video I'm riding in 5th Position of the missing man formation. Jordan's honor position was right in front of me in 3rd position

Wow that is really awesome to be involved with something as important as dealing with a fallen soldier. My daughter is a Iragi veteran and so I respect the hell out of anyone who appreciates the military cause, and mntsnow, it must make you feel good to be doing something so powerful as what you're doing. I would ride with you any day, and keep up the good work.

No words are adequate. Not for the work the PGR is doing and most certainly not for the soldiers they help carry home or for those who are still carrying on the fight.

    Much respect Mike.

Baldmotoman, I'll look forward to the day I get to meet you and your daughter but until then please tell her "Thank You For Your Service" to our nation! I am a former military member and so I do have a very healthy respect for our service members but one of the things I really do enjoy about the PGR is not everyone is from a military background nor even rides an iron horse....but the common thread between everyone is the respect and graditude shown towards our service members....

Ut-T, Yep....No words can truly convey the feelings and emotions that can occur on missions such as this one yesterday, but the emotions and feelings still flow when we are lucky enough to do Send-offs and Welcome home's and I would personally prefer to do the welcome home missions without question!

What can I say about the family of Jordan....but the word "WOW" was the first one that came to mind.... To quote the statement that the family released to the media a few days ago..

"As a family, we would like to announce the loss of our son and brother Jordan P. Thibeault to the cause of liberty in Iraq. While we feel enormous grief and loss, we want to explain why our son's passing should be heralded by each and every one of us. Mankind today is faced with terrible calamities. Only a select few are willing to forgo comforts of home, indeed the very promise of a bright future, to place themselves between the forces of hate and oppression and the human spirit yearning for peace and safety.
Jordan did not go to Iraq to protect America but to protect mankind. Young and eager to answer the cause of Liberty, Jordan followed his inner core of beliefs, taught by loving parents and family members, to ensure the peoples of Iraq were assured a chance of achieving peace and prosperity. His passing should give hope to all that there are still those among us who are willing to give the ultimate sacrifice to keep mankind safe and free.
We honor all men and women in uniform and will continue to pray for each and every one of them as well as their families.
Added the bolds to what really caused me to go "WOW" by this great family....even while dealing with their own personal loss of Jordan...

Though I'm not from a military background at all, I do have a very healthy respect for those willing to put their lives on the line for the rest of us, and have a very strong patriotic nature as well.
Maybe someday I will find a job where I can afford enough vacation days to be able to give a strong enough commitment to ride with such a group. I'm not big on being part of an organized motorcycle group, but this is one that I could really dive into and believe in, and ride with without reservation.

    RideUtah,

The Patriot Guard Riders is NOT a Motorcycle Club....We are a group of people (not the same political views/religons/walks of life etc) but do share in the common view point of wanting to support our service personel. Please feel free to read up on the PGR at http://www.patriotguard.org/
