Default Hey folks. New member here.

    Hey guys,

My name is Greg and I just wanted to make a quick introductory post.

I do not own an M109 as of yet, but it has been the front-runner on the short list of bikes that I've been mulling over and I figured now was a good time to join up here and try to get some information before making my final decision. I've used the search feature on here extensively and have found some good information; some exciting and positive, some that makes me a little bit nervous. It seems like y'all have a really good group of guys here and I am excited to now be a member after lurking for a while.

A bit of background information. I've always had sport-bikes and had to sell my last one about 4 years ago. I'm now in a situation where I can responsibly purchase another bike and in the time since my last one, I've grown up a bit and find myself leaning more towards a cruiser, but still want a little bit of the sporty attitude hence my interest in the 109. I'm a tall(6'4) and bigger guy as well so it helps that I probably wouldn't look as much like a monkey humping a football on a larger cruiser like the 109 as I did on my sport bikes, ha!

Anyways. I'm happy to be here. I've already learned a lot just from looking around and I have a couple questions that I will post up soon that will hopefully settle my mind for good on if this is the bike for me.

    Thanks y'all!

Welcome brother! The 9 is an awesome ride. You won't regret buying the bike, get ready for extensive mods. Suzuki starts the bike, it is up to you to finish it.
    Choppin it!

    Greg,

Welcome to the forum. I also started reading the forum before buying my M109r(Black is the fastest color BTW.) There is a lot of helpful info here and many of the greatest folks. Enjoy your time and post pics of your 109...if that is what you decide...

Welcome and hopefully you choose a 9. I wish I knew about this site before I got mine. You're lucky to have that advantage. Right now, I honestly think I would have bought a used one instead of going new. As you might have seen here, there's always something for sale and there's some really nice ones. Nothing against my 2011. I totally love the bike and ride it constantly. I have 8,600 miles since April. I just see the mods to be done, the money it takes and it's killing me. I could have had something decent, mostly done up for a lot less. I know guys here say that you need to make the bike your own. I could have overlooked that! My bike now probably isn't worth much more than a used one. Just a thought for you. There's a beauty up here for sale that I drool over but it's too late. I think the owner is bosox. It's silver, has red sox duck air covers, but it's got everything else you could want. Happy searching!

It's not really a hard decision after you check everything else out there. I was at a show today and talking to a guy that had an ironhorse slammer. Really nice looking bike, 280 rear from the factory. When he told me to sit on it and try the feel out I just didn't have the heart to tell him that it felt like I was sitting on a moped or that for all that money they could of chromed everything instead of polish (so you spend more time polishing than riding) But I love this bike and as far as a cruiser I can't see being on anything else

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I'm most definitely leaning towards the 109 and am excited about the prospect of getting one of these beastly machines. I have a couple of questions about the mechanics of the 109 that I'd like to ask, but will do so in the appropriate sub-forum. Thanks again!

    Default Welcome

    Welcome Greg,
Just wanted to let you know that I was in the same boat as you. This was my first cruiser since riding sportbikes. This was also my first Forum. All I can say is that this is the greatest Forum I have ever seen. Lately I have been lurking on other forums looking at possibly another bike. The 9 stays, I am just expanding my stable. One thing i have learned about forums is that you are going to hear the dirt. All bikes have their quirks. Some more than others. The diffidence here is that this group is filled with enthusiast who are willing to share everything! It is like having an added customer service desk for free! i was taking apart my air covers and heard something drop once. I took a picture of the part because I had no clue what it was or where it came from. With in seconds I got 3 responses!! This is a great bike and a great group of guys!
Out of every one hundred men you send me, ten shouldn't even be there, eighty are just targets, nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make good the battle...... Ah, but the one....one is a warrior.... and he will bring the others back.” -Heraclitus

I'm in Central Alabama, in Montevallo. Hmm. I don't know how I missed that. I will have to see if I can locate the state by state area.

Welcome to the forum. When looking at the full picture, I don't see anywhere on this forum where anybody has sold the nine because they dislike the nine.

I'm working on my third nine if that tells you something. I still have two. The 07 has 60,000 miles with only the motor mount, secondary and front fork seals. I can not complain. The motor still running strong and no major problems. My 08 now has 30,000 and climbing. If I had it to do again. You guessed it. The nine.
What other people think of you is none of your business.

Greg, glad to have you here!

Here's a link to the Alabama board. They are all the way at the bottom of the forum.

Man, that's what I like to hear! That's awesome that you've had so many relatively trouble free miles out of your bikes. Really my biggest concern is the whole 2nd gear shift fork thing.

Thanks again to everybody for the welcoming messages!
