    Default Frt Tire/fender

I currently run a 130/18 on the front.. I tried to run the 160 w/stock fender and it rubbed... what is the 2006 stock fender clearance? What I am attempting to see is if there is more clearance between the Stealth fender and a 130... Will a 150 or 160 even fit without extenders?

    Thanks in advance...

Supposedly the Low & Mean Stealth ( I thought is was called The Reaper) front fender was designed to be used with a 160 front. I have and will always have a 130 up front, do not like big front tires. I would prefer to put a 100 up front, like a HD Night Train. But then I would have to change the front fender, and I like my Reaper front fender too much to want to change it out for something different.

Jim I have my stock fender over my 160 for this whole riding season. It is close and I haven't had any problems with it. I still am going to put the fender extenders that are sitting in the garage on. It's just not worth the risk of damaging your fender stock or aftermarket and the cost to have it fixed/repainted when you can get the extenders for $60.00 and have no worries.

I run the 160 up front with no issues. Yeah, it's a little close when the tire is new but unless you ride on gravel roads alot it shouldn't be an issue.

Mine never rubbed did you loosen the bolts and push the fender up all the way and tighten it up... I made extentions cheap and easy. only because I live on a gravel road and that tire picks up gravel and it was going to break the rear of the fender...

I have the 160 on mine and ran it for maybe 2 weeks without extenders. It picked up a few gravels and ran them around the fender during that time and I was afraid sooner or later it would pick up a bigger one, so I made extenders for it.

I think they look cooler with the fender hugging the tire but I didn't want to risk damaging it.

I just put the stealth on mine with a 160 metz. The stealth is made to clear the 160 with no extenders. There is about a 1/4" gap with the 160. Before i put the stealth on, I had extenders on the stock fender. I made my own out of aluminum bar and stainless nuts and bolts. The lift the fender about 1/2" over stock location.

Yep, the low and mean fender is designed for a 160 tire. Hugs close at the top but there is plenty of room between fender and tire at the bottom. I would not run extenders with the low and mean fender, would pull it too far away at the top and it wouldn't look as good. I work off a dirt/gravel road and heard rocks hitting the stock fender with the 160, no problems with the L&M.

I'm running a Dunlop D251 150/60VR/18 , its a bit pricy but I'm sure it will not rub or no stones or gravel will damage front fender and it is also a true front tire.

Been running my 160 with a stock fender for years now. I bought bolts with a much smaller head than the stock one and then used stainless washers. I pulled the fender up as high as it could go before tightening and no rubbing issues.

My apologies. Fellow rider Giddyup109, if you have the time out of what I'm sure is a busy schedule, could you please enlighten me and also other inquisitive fellow riders as to how you overcame this issue with a minute pictograph session. We would be highly greatful. Thank you.

Well crafted sentence! Perhaps bonus pictures should be awarded?

Haha you have to do it now Giddy!

Just in case Giddy is indeed too busy...

If you take out on the bolts for the fender you will see there is a larger section of the bolt just past the head that fits inside the fender and holds it in place. This is what prevents you from pulling the fender up. If you were to get regular bolts and use a washer to fill the space you would gain 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch.

All that said I ran a 160 with stock fender and stock bolts and I work down a dirt road, didn't have a problem.

    Funny thread!
I've had the 160 for 13,000 miles now without issues. I loosed the bolts, wedged a screw driver between the tire and fender and then retightened them. Like I said, no issues. Ride safe.
