I second the aforementioned Ducati Diavel or the Vmax. If I was to add to the stable, it would be a hard decision between these two, for me at least. I saw a Diavel at Indy MotoGP and it was one of the coolest looking bikes I ever saw. And of course, the Vmax is just so unique in it's V4 design, power, and sound.

No one has mentioned the Yamaha Fjr 1300?
Is the concours that much better?
I checked prices on the zx and they seem to cost more than the Busa.

My concern is the more I spend on the bike the longer I will have to wait to raise the cash.

Which bike has more bang for the buck?

Motorcyclist Magazine just did a review of the new ZX14, the Busa and the BMW K1300. They all liked the K13 best. It had 135ish rrhp vs the other two being up in the 180's if I remember correctly. They said the sheer power of the ZX was amazing and the Busa felt dated and was sorely in need of an update.

The FJR from what I've read and gathered on the forums is almost as powerful as the Concours, it's a little smaller in stature and comfortable as hell. I believe it's only a 5 speed not that that really matters. They are due for a revamp as well.

While researching my purchase of a 2012 ZX14R, I also went on some of the Busa forums. I did a search for the zx and was surprised that there was no bashing of it. Mostly praise and people mentioning that they planned on getting one should Suzuki not come through with something spectacular this year. For a lot of people, it comes down to asthetics and which one you think looks better.
As far as performance goes, there is no way to get the full potential out of these bikes with out a race track. In street races, the winner is going to be the guy who is least afraid to receive a ticket. Both are very comfortable. I have just over 700 miles on mine.
I still suggest, unless you are collecting cruisers, get something totally different.
Motorcycles are perfectly safe, as long as you don't fall off and you don't hit anything.

    Default Nice Choices

I'm going to have to say I like that ZX14. I also love Triumph. The Diavel is a sexy a$$ ride but all reports are that it is issue prone. (I have been researching the bike for myself) Another option: the KTM RC8R. It's hand-made, Austrian, and bad to the bone. Not a tourer though like the 14 or busa. That's my .02.

Here is a spy shot of the new Busa

    http://translate.google.com/translat...s-onthuld.html

Now it doesn't seem like they did much. The press release is tomorrow. Brembo brakes and ABS. Here's the kicker..the 1999 original Busa was capable of 194 mph. Based on some web surfing. Then around 2002 there was an agreement to restrict the bikes. If Suzuki unrestricted the 2013 Busa to compete with the ZX-14r then both bikes would be back to the same numbers. What is really impressive is that the Busa was created back in 1999 and has been on top for this long! The aftermarket is filled with parts! The engine is tried and true. So tomorrow we will get the full story...this will be interesting.

The C14 has a lot of good reviews, and from what I can tell several here have gone that direction.
I didn't mention these bikes simply due to the fact that you have a Victory CC in the stable and would seem to overlap with this bike a lot more than a V-Strom, Tiger, R1200GS, Multistrada etc...
I personally believe that the C14 will cause the VCC to go into hibernation at my stable.

It is not the horse power that is restricting bikes from going above the 185 mph gentlemans agreement. Even with 192 rwhp, the zx14r is restricted to 185. The only one to break that so far has been the BMW. I read that it was funny that they were the ones to do it since they were the ones who fought to get it imposed back in 2000, or 2001. I like the Busa, but they put more pressure on my wrist than the riding position on the zx14.

My wife loves the CC. I don't think she will love the sport tourer as much if she is in a more compact position.

That is one of the things I like about the Busa, it's been around long enough to have lots of parts available but no one will admit that they ride an old Busa.

    You are probably correct.
Sounds lke you are leaning towards the Busa. It has always been somewhat of a forbidden lust for me. The older I get the less of a chance I will own one.
Let us know how you go!

I swapped bikes the other day with a good friend who has a 2012 R1200GS. He warned me that it was going to feel like a diesel but that was it's personality. He rode my 2012 V-Strom 1000 which is considered a low cost competitor.
I hate to say, but I wasn't all that impressed especially since he told me that he had almost $20,000 in it.

Yes, it was a good ride but I expected more personality from the motor. I liked the linked braking but hated the turn signal switches. The ride was good.....just can't get over the price...and dang it was wide!
My V-Strom Adventure was $10,800 out the door. Has all the hard bags. Yes, I needed to spend a grand making it mine (typical Suzuki) but overall it has turned out to be a great tourer.

My friend really liked the Strom and was impressed with the motor. Can't imagine why
Just an FYI, Suzuki is getting ready to put a new V-Strom into production. It will have a lot of up-dates and it's v-twin to carry around 110-120 hp (up from a stock 98 hp) and projected to be available in 2013.
I may just have a 2012 for sale in a few months!

    Boss Hoss?

I hear they are fast but how are they in the twisties?

I'm not sure I will feel comfortable splitting lanes on one.

    Default This generation of Triumph

Newer triumphs are neck and neck with the Jap bikes on reliability. Fairly easy to find a certified shop around as well. I have had a Daytona and loved the initial quality. Break them in right and you are good to go.

Busa would be sweet but 200hp V-Max would be hard to pass up as well. WHAT A TERRIBLE PROBLEM TO HAVE

Thanks for the info on the new Vstrom..will watch for it...

The turn signals drove me nuts too and it could get pretty wide if you extended the bags..but a solid machine and very capable..now I've only ridden two bikes in my life, the 9 since 07 and the GS for those two days so I don't have anything to compare to..but I was impressed with the GS and it's buil quality and function, and was very comfortable on it as i spent 16 hours in the saddle..love this style of bike..they don't look so hot,but man do the cover a lot of different countryside..

I would get a Moto Guzzi Griso 8v se. they are an Italian company and they don't cost too much. very unique and very cool. you already have the cruiser and tourer now you need the cornering and wheelie machine! I can't post a pic from my phone but Google them. they are famous for the way they present their horizontally mounted v twin and brand new they are about 12.5k.

what other toys are you into? Just me but if I had my 9 and a vic or wing I would cover some other bases for fun. You have a boat? RV/camper? Dirt bike/ATV/RZR? Sports car? off road 4x4 truck? Race car?
maybe getting something that you can enjoy in the off season of street riding

    That is what I did.
I got a sport touring bike for those spirited riding days, a sport car for the days when I wanted to take the family along, and a truck. You know, in case I need to get a pig to market really quick or something.

I live in SoCal. There is no off season for street riding. I've had the sports car, ( a few porsches in my youth,) a RV , (had to live in it for a month waiting for escrow to clear, Never again!), a 4x4 for off road, ( don't really like to get dirty, so that was that was short lived) and have family with boats but never got into riding in a circle most of the time.

Motorcycles are my addiction. I don't need another bike. I want one.
