Fork Caps

I am trying to install my new spiked fork caps and they just sit on top of the fork. There is no way to secure them, what should I use to secure them to the top fork bolt assy?

Fill them up with a clear silicone and squash them onto the fork caps. Clean all the excess off and tape the spike caps in place and leave to dry for 24 hours.

I agree somewhat. Silicone yes. But don't fill em up unless you want hell ever getting them back off. A nickel sized dot on opposing sides is plenty. And you won't have to wipe any excess off.

The ones I got had a drilled and tapped small screw that holds them on.. Of course mine are not chrome... YET!

BUT seems crazy to use silicone .... IMHO

I say if you can drill and tap some threads go that way..

I agree.. you spend this type of money and you expect them to fit without having to come up with some type of fasting device.. I use the silicone..

I agree but it doesn't really bother me. It's a clean look and I don't see myself going back.

I actually had both types of caps (set screws and silicone). I prefer and still have on my bike the ones that are on with clear silicone. The caps with set screws never sat right for me and the set screws are so small it does not take much to round them out. I always have a tube of clear silicone in my tool box. The stuff is a wonder for sure stick on just about anything you can think of and it is clean and neat to boot.
