MESH GRILLE INSTALL HELP

First , i would like to say hello, from NYC...this is a great site with a wealth of info...i bought a mesh grille to replace factory grille on the bully..it came with no instructions and i have looked and only saw a post about moving gas tank...but the photos didn't show up..so if anyone has replaced there grille can you please tell me the steps to do so...i jsut wanna make it as easy as possible don't wanna start pulling unnecessary things apart

You should only have to pull the gas tank back a little to get to 2 screws, one on each side, to disassemble the radiator shroud. On the bottom center black piece of the shround, there are 2 "push pin" connectors you have to remove to separate the left and right sides, and the top middle section snaps together. When you remove the top 2 screws, slide the side piece up and out away from the neck cover to separate.

Be careful not to spread the sides of the rad shroud to far apart they can crack where they a connected at the bottom , Easy job take your time be careful .

I just want to add that I know a lot of you guys are saying how simple a job this is, what's their problem...and I'm sure it is. Guys like us with little or no tools, and want to try to work on our bikes a little, is the reason for this thread ( speaking for myself! ). Personally, I think there's enough info here right now, so thanks!

found this on Youtube, it's from Low and Mean, and it's for their chin scoop install, but it shows how to disassemble the radiator shroud that will give you access to the grille.

the Irate grill comes with 3 pages of install info ,
at top right corner of page one , there was a chrome screw/bolt scotch-taped.

I just want to add that I know a lot of you guys are saying how simple a job this is, what's their problem...and I'm sure it is. Guys like us with little or no tools, and want to try to work on our bikes a little, is the reason for this thread ( speaking for myself! ). Everyone has their level of mechanical knowledge or skill. It might be that you have never held a screwdriver, or you just aren't sure how something comes apart, ad you'd rather not break off a mounting tab because you pulled left instead of pulling right.

I had a roommate who was afraid to check the air in his tires when I met him. By the time we parted ways, he'd remove the front clip off a mitsubishi eclipse, installed his own intercooler setup, and put it back together with me not even being there to help hand him tools.

There is no stupid question. IF you don't know, ask. Speaking for myself, I love sharing knowledge and information. IF it saves you the aggrevation of taking it to a dealer, or paying to replace a part that was unnecessarily broken, then it's worth asking.

It is pretty straight forward once you get started, sounds scarier than it is.

My advice, just be very patient, don't force anything. This bike is unfortunately made with a lot of cheap plastic, don't force anything and you should be good.

@ Kenny, I have tools at work, and I can handle this...I hacked the job on the HID install, broke a push pin, scratched the nacelle, etc...learning as I go, but I remember your offer!

@ the other guys, the grille I got is from Ferreous and they shipped a one page instruction sheet. I was looking for that one little thing that would stop me from snapping something! I appreciate everything said here and I see what goes on in the forum as far as help, and it's great from all of you.

I'm going to emabarrass myself in front of the world right now, but who cares...I was raised in a gas station business owned by my father. My brother was the wrench, I was the "people person" at the pumps. I've been in automotive for over 30 years total, including still to this day. Don't own a wrench...I worked for an electrical contractor as a purchasing agent in between. During a break, I looked down at an electricians tool pouch. He had Klein screwdrivers. I actually asked him what the plus and minus symbols were on the handle !!! I had never seen that and that was one of my biggest duh moments in my life. I never lived that down either, as you can imagine!

and can attest to Josh's desire to help others, answer questions and give advise which is the best. It'salso another reson this forum is SO GREAT!
