Had enough of the air ride more problems than its worth,Have had a Ohlins adjustable rear shock built in Switzerland for my 9 with adjustable perload and ride height and it can be adjusted up and down with out affecting spring tension,with Ohlins front and rear it handles nice

8000 trouble free miles on my Arnott. Wouldn't trade it. Wouldnt go back. If I do have a problem I'll figure it out and fix it. Well worth it.

That is funny, just last weekend another 9 rider that has air ride told me he thought it was really overrated.

Probably because he never dialed it in correctly. I thought the same thing in the beginning other than the cool factor of slamming it. I then started to dial it in and it is amazing. The higher I am, and the more air it is stiffer. So, I started playing with the dampening and clicked it softer 3 times and it is amazing. I can ride stock ride height, and when I sit on the bike it looks lowered enough that I know I look good on it. The 3 clicks softened it up so much that I am on a cloud and still have it stiff enough to feel comforatable handing the twisties.

Im very satisfied with my Arnott, I just recently had a situation where it would leak down overnite. I did the soap test to all my fittings and finally located the spot where she was leaking from. I had loosened the air exhaust valve so it would lower faster and took the small brass nut off and unscrewed the small stud. When I soaped it up it was leaking from the ports around the brass fitting. I took the fitting off and saw what looked like fine grained sand in the hole so i blew that out and tapped the fitting on the ground and some more came out of it. Re installed and it fixed the leak. You have to route your lines correctly as to not put any stress or tight bends to where it would wear thru the line or crack it with age. Love it and is one of the best mods you can do to the 9.

i believe I am at 8, possibly 7. I am going to turn it down one more possibly but I am really liking it right now.

let me know, I would be curious. Tell him to raise it all the way up until it gets stiff and see if he is comfortable as far as his legs and position. Then take a picture and show him he looks good on it and it doesn't need to be down. Most people get hung up on it being slammed. Then have him adjust the shock, get on and bounce and do it again until he gets some rebound. then he can go ride and adjust as necessary. He very well may have done it and doesn't like it but I would be surprised. Big-B mentioned the same thing to me a couple weeks ago and had it on 11. I crawled under and set it on 8 and he said it was noticeablly better.

Yup, much better ride. I might even drop it more just to see if it gets even better. When I first installed it, it was set at like 14, for w/e reason the bike wouldn't drop all the way down. I called Arnott and they said to try lowering the setting on the shock and see if that corrected the problem. It did. Not sure if anyone else had ever run across that.

I started out on #8 just by what others were saying. I"m at #6 now, and it's perfect for me. The rear suspension floats like an old Cadillac, plus it looks awesome slammed when parked. I thought I had debris lodged in the air line keeping pressure on the air gauge, but it turned out to an overtightened fitting on the gauge itself.

The problems i had, it kept dropping over night no matter how many times i found leaks, but my main concern was i would be out riding and the thing would just lose air bloody dangerous. I dont now weather it is our roads out here as they are very rough i lost all confidence in it.

Wished I was riding on air... did you always find leaks when you checked it?you would think you could only find so many leaks

Les, please provide details here or via PM how you sourced the adjustable preload shock. Was it left over stock, custom order, etc.

I want to go this route as well. Along with adjustable shock length to gain a little extra ride height.

Hi we have a guy here in NZ who works for ohlins setting up all the race bikes who use there shocks i rang him told him what i wanted ie to lower the bike just like the air,ride hight,ajustable per load and my how much i way etc HE sent the specs away to Switzerland 6 weeks later i had the shock and i must say what a nice peace of engineering it is
