    Default Prayers needed

    Hey guys,

Some of you know that I am in Afghanistan. Just recently I was back home on a much needed break and i was surprised when my twin sister and niece drove down to visit with me and my family. It was a great visit and several weeks later I would be heading back to the sandbox. Days before this would happen I received a call from my sister with not so good news. My niece who had survived Wilms disease (cancer of the Kidney) at the age of 3 had just been diagnosed with Leukemia....Getting on the plane to head back out here was one of the toughest decisions that I have had to make. Below is the story of my Fighting Angel. Please take the time to read it. I ask you to do two things, please keep her in your prayers and if you are able please register with http://marrow.org/Home.aspx you may be the one that could save a life.

Please read my fighting Angels' story

Same here. Registering to be a bone marrow donor is the easiest thing in the world to do. Everyone should do it!

Prayers sent bro. I hate to see a child that age, or any age, with a disease like that. The wife of a guy I work with baby sits a small boy, about 2 years old, that has Wilm's disease. We've had a charity golf event for them and a couple charity bike rides. He's been getting treatments for several months now but is pulling through it slowly. And it had spread to his lungs but they can only treat one area at a time.

I hope and pray Leah pulls through the leukemia the same as she did the Wilm's disease.

It is horrible to have to deal with that at any point in your life, but especially a child. She is beautiful and deserves to enjoy her life like anyone else. A very tough young girl with a beautiful smile. I know she is tough just by having that smile. I have sent prayers from Maryland and expect to eventually see a thread on here giving us all the wonderful news of how she beat the disease.

    Default Marrietta High School

I got this email from my sister this morning.. If any of you happen to be in the area and would like to help please stop by.

    Family and friends,

"What would you do if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me.
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song,
And I'll try not to sing out of key.
Oh I get by with a little help from my friends..."
    ~The Beatles

Marietta High School Principal, Mrs. Leigh Colburn, sent the following message to the staff at her school today:

First, we are asking each school to conduct a donation drive within their school. I am asking my staff to give a suggested donation of $10 each before the first day of school. Of course, we welcome any employee giving more, but $10 is all we are asking. We have set up an account at the Credit Union of Georgia named“Sunshine for Leah Anderson”. A deposit can be made directly to this account (and checks can be made out accordingly) or any donation can be brought to MHS and we will deposit it for you.

Second, we are hoping and praying for a miracle for Leah. We need a bone marrow donor match to be found so that this precious life can be saved. On Thursday, August 2 from 10am – 2pm in room F123, we will be conducting a bone marrow drive for MCS employees and community friends of Leah’s who are between the ages of 18-60 and who are in good health. There will be medical personnel on site this Thursday at MHS to answer any questions. While the process of donating bone marrow is somewhat more invasive than a swab test (but much easier than in past years), the process of giving a sample for a potential match test is a simple swab of the cheek. The paperwork and the swab sample will take about ten minutes and participating is truly your chance at saving a life.

We will be conducting some additional activities such as a community walk up Kennesaw Mountain in the future and I will be sure to let you know of those events.

(Leigh - you are something else.)
