The RAW Design LED lights are the best way to go. There bright and come with different lighting functions. Right and left signal, Rt and Lt with brake light in middle. They are really the way to go. Most that mount these lights have gone to a side mount license plate, but I guess it could work with a rear mount too. Just wouldn't be as clean a look. I run with the rear mount and Kuryakyn Small LED Red Silver Bullets on the Baron mount. Have them hook up to function as running lights, signals and brakes. Guaranteed to be seen unless their blind.

I have the Raw Design Strutto rear signals. The mount underneath the chrome fender strut and just kind of blend in. Pretty bright and easily seen in daylight, plus they wrap around and can be seen well from the side too. I wouldn't mind adding the ones linked above just to complete the look.

Zoom, how do those Raw Design Strutto mount? Do they just stick on or what? I was looking at those in conjunction with the LED tubes like you stated.

I also like the RAW design, It's tight and neatly tucked under fender. I don't think you can get A cleaner look for your 9.

Here are the set that I put on my 07. Two different shots one with the "beavertail" and one without. Here's one on the front also.

I like those signals WILLSMITH28 but my only concern is brightness. How bright are they in the day and night. Who makes them and where did you get them? They look great on the bike.

Got the lights of E-bay for under $40 for all four (Harley Davidson Road King Electra Glide CHROME SIGNALS)

The only concerns when installing them:
    1. On the front ones you need to cut the rubber back about an 1/8 of an inch so you can get the nut on the back side
    2. Pain in the to get the wrench behind the front forks, had to loosen the light assembly.
    3. Very bright, just unhook the all time running wire on the front ones. Tried it with the wire hooked up and the signal wasn't bright enough

I ride this bike everyday to and from work and everyone can't believe of bright they are.

Here are the lights I went with back in 06. Old pics, many mods on the bike since then.

....yeah, the kids have been modded also since those pics

The above cost me in the vicinity of $60, plus another $20 or so for the 2" (I believe that was the size) hollow bolt.

Though the original site is no longer available, here's what I've found...and if you search you will find that they do sell the hollow bolts:

    http://www.cyclewareables.com/pages/...ustom_led1.jpg

If you do a search for LAZER STAR LIGHTS or VIZOR LIGHTS, you should find competitive prices...if this is your cup of tea.

Just yesterday, I received and installed the following on the front

I faced the same issue as WillisSmith; in my scenario, I had to cut the 4 threads off the hollow bolt (part of the package, not an extra item). In addition, I had to take the housing apart and take the bulb out because as you tighten the bolt into the housing, you actually rotate the housing for more leverage given the tight space. In turn all of this rotation, twists up the wires; easier to adjust the wires if the bulb is out of the housing. I also had to remove the light cowl.

Determining all my options on the first one took up a majority of my time...the second one literally took less than 10 minutes to complete. Again, I will bring the bike to work tomorrow and post pics as soon as possible.

My 9 is silver, and now that I have removed the ugly orange front AIRPLANE lights, my bike has a totally different look....true silver and black, save the red tail light.

Here's the link for the ones in the front...$33...a perfect fit in the original housings below the cowl....again, just need to put the dremel to it to cut off 4 threads.

By the way, these puppies are BRIGHT !!!!!

Alright, hope this helps you or anyone else...."GET RID OF THE AIRPLANE LIGHTS!!!" my boy John used to say, and now I say the same to you.

They have the red 3M double stick tape, like the super strong emblem tape, on the top of them, and they just stick under the struts. The top is flat and about 3/4" wide by 1 1/2" long, so they aren't going to come back off very easy. In fact it's kind of hard to get them on right because the tape sticks so well. But they do look good and I think they would look great with the LED's that wrap around the fender.

Here's what they look like before you install them. They come in pairs, a left and right. This would be a left side light.

No good picture of them lit up on mine, but if you look close you can see them under the chrome fender struts.

And a thread that has pictures of them lit up. It also shows what they would look like with the wrap around fender LED's.

I used the stockers with a modified mount. Cheap, bright, and they look pretty good too

I want my turn signals to fit just like that. How did you get yours to fit like that?

Dude check the dates, this is a way old post and the guy whose pics you posted was a guest on here so probably not going to get an answer. If you don't want the license plate back there you could probably use something like either of the two pic's to the right in this link.

    Default Turn signals

If by cleaning up the rear, you mean getting away from traditional turn signals, I installed Raw Design LED Fender eliminator kit. They are awsome. Really shows up that nice fat tire.
