I really wish i could go on this trip. So please take lots of pictures please!!!
Good News, I got a clutch cable coming, should be here tomorrow. Grandpatractor and Scorp were both stand-up guys willing to loan me theirs. Kudos to you both!! I will keep you all updated, my plans are to meet at TC at noon. I wish Scorp could go. He is a great guy, he probably could use the trip. Maybe next time??
Well Scott, the cable still sits in the saddle bag if you need it. I really would like to go and your right i could really use the trip. If i can get some free time this weekend and the cash (free time will be harder) maybe i could meet up with everyone Saturday some place. If anyone has any problems i have a truck and trailer.... Shouldn't need it since no one is driving an american built bike![]()
OK whats going on with Saturday and possible Sunday? My sister may be able to come and take care of my mom for me. I also might be able to catch up with everyone Friday night. It just depends on when my sister gets here. As of right now it looks like My wife and i will be able to meet up with everyone Saturday.

I can't answer about Fri but Sat we are meeting at Hooters in TC at noon. I believe Grandpa Tractor will be in Mackinac Fri night. I'm going to meet Grandpa Sat morning and ride south to meet others at Hooters. We're then going to hit some sweeping back roads and most likely reach Cross Village for dinner at the Legs Inn. From there we'll head to Mackinac for the night. At least that's my plan, others might have different. Sun morn we'll start our UP adventure.
Getting new tires put on Wednesday, packing the bike on Thursday, and taking off at 6 am Friday morning so I can meet an old friend for a sandwich at Al's beef on the way through. I should be into the Muskegon area by 5 or 6 pm and will try to find a local micro brewery so I can take a Growler back to the campsite and grill a steak. See you guys this weekend.

I'll be watching this thread to see the pix!
Are you guys gonna ride out on the peninsula in TC? The Jolly Pumpkin mircobrew is out there and is really good. Plus at the tip of the peninsula is Old Mission Lighthouse. It's a real pretty ride out there and doesn't take very long. Hooters are a dime a dozen and are in every town and they all look the same. I think if you are gonna go to a new location it is more enjoyable to hit a truly local establishment to get a better vibe for the area. But hell I'm not going so what am I talking about! LOL
Just a thought.![]()

If they want to ride out there I'm willing. I'm still going to Hooters though, I love the hot wings. The closest Hooters to my house is 75 miles away and as a tradition I ALWAYS go there on a cycle trip. If no one else wants to eat that's fine but it's still a good meeting place. You just can't miss that orange building. We'll discuss it when we meet.
You must live out in the sticks eh?!....There's so many Hooters around Metro Atlanta I see them all the time, plus we got local wing places up the ying yang down here. lol
I feel ya though! Go get your wings fix man!
I hope you guys have good weather and maybe some cooler air instead of all this heat. I noticed it's been just as hot in MI lately too. I think it was 100 degrees in Minneapolis, MN yesterday as well. When it's hotter in Minnesota than it is in Georgia things are just effed up! I know my brother in Detroit is tired of the heat.
On the trip to Marquette are you going to stop in Munising at look at the Pictured Rocks National Seashore?
Miners Castle
Located about 6.5 miles east of Munising on Alger County Road H-58, then five miles north on Miners Castle Road.
Miners Castle is the most famous formation of the Pictured Rocks, and is accessible by vehicle and short trails.
Beginning at the picnic area, a paved foot trail leads past interpretive exhibits to breathtaking overlooks of Lake Superior and Grand Island. Stairs and a steeper trail lead to the lower overlook adjacent to Miners Castle.

I'm sure some will want to. I doubt we'll all be together all of the time. There will be plenty of time to see everything. I'm sure some will want to go to the shipwreck museum at Whitefish Point, some will want to walk all of the stairs at Tahquamenon Falls, there's a Bear Ranch in Newberry. I just want to ride, I'm anxious to get West of Marquette because I've never been there. I might spend an extra day up there.
Hey Scorp, glad to see this is going to work out. Let me know what you think. My initial plan was to leave home Saturday morning, ride to TC and hook up woith Marco and the boys. If you are coming across and are just planning on heading north. I'll join you. It wouls be a riot to scream north together. If you want, we can still head to TC and meet up. Marco has a killer ride planned, with eats at the Legs Inn. Cool place, Tunnel of Trees is a must-do ride, period. Let me know, we can do this!!!
Hey JD, here ya go, two of them just south of Muskegon; http://www.oldboysbrewhouse.com/ in Spring Lake and http://oddsideales.com/ in Grand Haven. These are the closest you're gonna find to Mears. As you know, you are gonna be right on top of Silver Lake and the sand dunes there. Good luck!! See you Saturday.
That sounds good to me! I've been wanting to drive the tunnel of trees for years. I was also wanting to meet up with the rest of the group and try to do as much of the ride as we can Saturday. I 'll have to take off and head home when we get to I-75. I have to be home Saturday night. Scott will talk later tonight and see if we can work something out. So how many People are going to make this run this weekend?
It's looking like maybe around 8 bikes.
Jeremy, you aren't the only one. I'm ready to go. Camping gear is packed, Monsters are purchased and
my mind is already on vacation.
i had lunch at the Legs Inn with a group from sport tourer.net last Sat and it was awesome. Rode the tunnel and there was little traffic. I rode through around noon. While we were at the inn the place filled up.
I estimate we'll hit I-75 around 6pm. It's pretty much a straight shot from the Legs Inn. It will be sooner than that if we do more riding than talking. :) Levering Rd. is the first road I opened my Concours up on. It's straight and in one area you have fields on both sides so deer aren't an issue.
I checked out Legs' website and it looks spectacular. The beer selection looks great, to bad it is a 20 mile ride to the Chief hotel from there.
You can run, but you will just die tired..............
It looks like there are some awesome views to be had from the deck at Legs INN so waiting around for an hour after having a beer with dinner wouldn't exactly be torture.![]()
Plus, there will be plenty of time to have beers once camp is set up.
I plan on bringing a couple six packs of my favorite Missouri brews and if anyone wants to bring their favorite local brew I would be happy to participate in a beer exchange program.![]()

What time does the group plan to be at the Cheif Motel? My wife and I along with my buddy Kirk will be in Mackinaw sometime in the afternoon on Saturday. Not sure if we're going to just go exploring or what. Are you planning to have dinner at the Legs Inn before you come to Mackinaw?
RED 07, De-beavered, Cycle House Stainless Steel License Plate Bracket, RAW DESIGN Horizontal Chrome LED License Plate Frame, Medium Eagle Eye LED Turn Signals, Suzuki Billit Derby Cover, Suzuki Full Cut Gel Seats, Hard Krome Sideburner Exhaust, Dynojet PCIII Fuel Management, ISO Grips and Throttle Boss.
Got my reservation at The Chief. Can't wait until Saturday morning. Looking forward to this. Much needed.
You know Jeremy, I drive past the lake every day on my way to work and never really look at it. Last Saturday when I was eating on the patio at the Legs I was just looking out over the lake thinking how beautiful it was. It was an 85 degree hazy humid day and my gear was causing me to melt but it was still just awesome to be there. I'm looking forward to seeing how you have your bike packed with your camping gear, 2-6 packs and everything else you need.
Sharon talked me into getting a room at the Chief Saturday night so I won't be camping on the beach that night but I will be camping the other 2 nights. The reservations are made.
Is anyone interested in going here?
It's an abandoned WW2 airstrip. Each runway is supposed to be a mile long. I went last year and rode on it but I didn't open the bike up because there were people there and I didn't want to get the cops called on me. You are allowed to go in but there are signs saying "no drag racing." If we get lucky there won't be any people there and we can play a little. It's between St Ignace and Tahquamenon Falls. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raco_Army_Airfield

Oh yeah. That looks good. I'm going to have to head back for home Sunday afternoon, but will do all I can with you guys before I go.
