Hope you can make it. I'm ready to go now. I always take my trips in June, waiting til July is killing me. I've watched most of my friends go on their trips and I just grind my teeth in anticipation.

No long trips for me this year either. I went to Arkansas for a couple days last month but I have been chomping at the bit for a multi day trip over 2000 miles. This trip should be 2400-2600 miles total for me, that is alot of riding for a four day trip. I can't wait to hit the road and see some new sights and meet some new and "old" friends. Getting ready for the trip by putting on my second front and third rear tire this year.

You can run, but you will just die tired..............

JD, How many miles does your Connie have? I have 48,000 now, this year I've put on less than any previous year. I'm about 2 trips behind. :(

I just hit 48,000 during a 200 mile ride this morning. I commute 95% of the time on my C14 so that racks up about 1,000 miles a month and I try to ride at least one day every weekend when I don't have family obligations. I need to get my wife out on a long ride but her backside can only handle two hours at a time.

    See ya in couple weeks.

Same here, I always ride to work and every Saturday my wife is cool enough to not hassle me about disappearing. I take 1 week off a year for a cycle trip and try to hit as many states as I can while I'm off. This year it's gonna be Michigan only, I might try to sneak over to Wisconsin and Minnesota Wednesday morning. That'll depend on how this old man feels after 3 days sleeping on an air mattress. 2 years ago I did a solo trip to Colorado and that was GREAT. I loved it. The first day was a 1,000 mile day but I calmed down after that.

I'm calling it, campfire in Porcupine Mountain State Park Monday night. I'll buy the first 2 bundles of wood. I can't pack a lot on my bike so BYO everything. I got a campsite close to the bathroom cuz I figure we're all 40ish and we'll need to relieve ourselves often, if we're indulging in drinking any kind of beverages that is. We're also close to Lake Superior in case we want to freeze our tuckasses off.

So is the plan to stay at Porcupine Mtn on Sunday night also? To bad I will be heading back Monday morning, hopefully there is plenty of bonfire/beverage consuming on Saturday and Sunday night. Oh and one more thing, I just entered my 30's so I can drink at least a 12 pack before I need to find a tree to water.

You can run, but you will just die tired..............

    JD,
Night 1 Saturday night we're staying in Mackinac. I'm staying at the Chief Motel and I know a few others are as well. purvistechie (Rich) his wife and friend Kevin as well as grandpatractor (JD.)
Night 2 I've got reservations at Van Riper state Park, that's about 30 miles west of Marquette. I think the others are actually staying in Marquette at a hotel.
Night 3 which will be Monday night I'll be staying at the Porcupine Mountain State Park.
At this point it looks like JD Mitchell and Kands (Scott) are the only ones doing the part of this trip south of Traverse City. I'll plan on meeting the group at Hooters in Traverse City at noon.

Is anyone doing the Lower Peninsula part of this trip? Please let me know.

I'll be in Traverse city Saturday. If no one else is gonna be in Frankfort Friday night I guess I will just find a good spot somewhere between Muskegon and Frankfort to camp and ride to the Hooters that morning after I break camp.

Sounds good to me. I'm trying to find out who else will be in the area. There are a few people that were interested in the trip and signed up but I haven't heard from them.

I emailed GeorgiaRoller and he and his wife are also out. I definitely won't mind a small group to spend the weekend with, less names for me to remember.

I usually take my trips solo, this is my first time with a group. I was hoping you would have someone to ride through the lower part with. It is nice down there. It is very touristy though. I have no patience with 35mph gawkers.

I'm sure I will manage until Saturday. Hopefully I don't have to blow the doors off of to many "35 mph gawkers".

That's all I did when I went through there. I was passing like crazy. I was worried about getting a ticket and watching for cops then all of a sudden DEER! I got to test the ABS. I don't have fond memories of riding M109 but I did get a good pic.

I am probably camping at Mears state park Friday evening. I will only have a 100 miles or so to ride to Traverse City, if I get up and around quick enough I might do some exploring before meeting you guys at Hooters.

    Hey All,

    Bad news here. My wife and I were on our way to Alpena last Saturday to spend the night. Out in the middle of nowhere my clutch bable broke. No biggie, we finally trailered it home. Now I can not get a +3" clutch cable anywhere. Here is the e-mail from Motion Pro;

    Hello Scott,
We have had some backorders on the M-109R clutch cables, we experienced a surge in orders and ran low on an item needed to make the clutch cables, we have the needed item scheduled to arrive by the 25th and will be making these cables ASAP, I believe you have a typo below, part number 64-0245 is a throttle cable, I believe your possible looking for a 64-0254 this would be a +3” braided clutch cable for your model, if this is correct you can place it on our on our web site athttp://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/partno/64-0254/
While we don’t hold backorders on phone in orders if you place the item on order through our web site we will hold the backorder and ship as soon as the cables are available around the end of the month. I hope you find this information to be of assistance, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

    Thank You,

So, unless the elves make one, I am out. I do not have a spare, I wish I did. I am on a constant search to find one, however if I am not successful, I'm gonna have to bow out. If you all were thinking about getting a second cable, order soon. I will keep you updated.

JD, if you're going up the coast you are in for some beautiful riding. When you get north of Empire and just past Glen Lake you'll be able to hit M109 highway. You have to stop there for a pic, like this one.

I got reservations in for monday at the Americinn in silver city. I have a double queen if anyone wants to split a room.

Kands. I have a spare used clutch cable for my C109. They are at least 2 inches longer than the stock M109. I could send it to ya to use till you get a new one or maybe you can find a new C109 cable somewhere near ya.

Ooink and I compared them at the MAM and he thought he had a +2 and my cable was 2 inches longer than his.

This is going to be a looooooong week at work. Grandpatractor, I'll give you a call Friday so we can figure out where to meet for our ride to Traverse. It'll probably be Alanson since you have to go through here to get there.
