Any good tricks to remove the grips and not trash them?
I`m kinda fussy bout that.
I use an air gun under the edge and twist, put them on the same way.

I have a pair of pliers with rubber claws. Just grabbed hold of the chrome end caps and gently twisted and pulled. They come off really easy.
I then took a long, but very thin, screwdriver and slowy seperated the black rubber grip from the handle bar (just broke up the glue first).
After it appeared that all the glue had been broken up, I slowly used the same screwdrive and worked the grip in kind of a clockwise direction, which resulted in the grip comming off without any harm.
Alot of guys just cut the black part off, but I wanted to keep them in good shape incase I wanted them back on, or when I sell, the new owner wanted original parts.
Probably isn't a big deal, but I am a little funny that way too.

I took care getting the end caps off. I used a large set of channel locks and a towel and gently worked them off. However, I just cut the actual black grips to remove them and then used goo-gone to get rid of the excess glue on the grips. Be sure and rough up you handle bars with some sand paper before installing the new grips. The glue seems to adhere better and quicker.

Coat hanger worked great for getting the rubber off without damaging them. The ends just popped off with a little work.
