Just an FYI for all the N.C. folks...
It appears that the NEW local and Highway Patrol vehicle of choice is the Dodge Charger!
http://www.allpar.com/images/dodge-charger/north-caroline.jpg
I went to the store to fill-up the 109 and what do I see? A plain wrapped blue NC Highway Patrol Charger sitting at the Sheetz talking to my local policeman. Who just happened to be sitting in a black and white Dodge Charger with the word 'POLICE' across the front in big red letters.
These things are hard to tell apart from the fully lighted cruisers.
Watch you speed out there and be safe...

Nice! If I were in the market for a new ride? The Black or Red Charger SRT/8 would definitely be on the short list..

That's going to be a bad ass car, the Challenger will be nice too. I'm sure they will all be hard to come by for a while after they are released.

So, blwn, what are people up to around there that has 'em going "Mad Max" on you?
A few years ago we had a bad problem with street racing...."of course I was not one of those guys doing that..... :o" The state took a Z28 Camaro and had it built....Fully built LS1, hunter green with black T-tops, polished rims, full exhaust, and tinted windows. They used it as an almost "entrapment" method for street racing. The cop would drive around waiting for kids to try to bait him into racing and would pull him over for it when they would either jump or speed by him....had a buddy of mine pulled by him.....

If you think thats bad....... I was talking to a Tulsa bike cop and they have 2 Hayabusa's now and are soon to get 2 Kaw 14's and... are sending them out west to riding schools. He told me they plan on leading the nation in getting rid of the Harleys and finally getting bikes that can keep up with the rest of us.

yeah I saw that a while back in a few pictures. That is going to get interesting. Lets see someone run from them but then again how would they pull them over when they catch up? Cars can make them spin out but what could the bike do?

Del, FYI... They have 2 marked Chargers now, and at least One blue unmarked. Here is a crappy pic I took when I got behind one the other day.

As one who grew up with the orignal E and F body Mopars. I really wish they would bring back the 'Cuda.
The new Chargers are nice, but I was really an E-Body fan.
And oh, it's got a Hemi....I wish.

Dang, we now have (2) of the Chargers...
I guess they are going with the classic Black and White color scheme. Which is a nice change from the crap color they had before.

Yeah, little old Spotsylvania here in Va has got them too, you would think they are kids with a new toy the way they are driving them though even when they're not on a call. Also one almost wrecked the other day the way he was driving through traffic, people just barely got out of his way.
State police here have them too, marked and unmarked, but they're not getting on it every chance they get.

The Chargers are harder to tell if it's a cop or not from a distance.
I ran up on the one here in Youngsville before I knew he was a cop.. He flashed his lights at me cuz I was going a little fast..
Sad thing is, the car says POLICE in big red letter right on the front bumper. I didn't see it until I was already busted..

I took the wife to the Fair Gounds this morning and the highway patrol car lot is across the street.
They had at least 50 Chargers sitting, ready to be put into service..
P.S. Anyone wanting a worn out Crown Vic, they got plenty for sale...

Dart, Duster? The 340 kicked butt!
Had a buddy with a 1970 Duster with a 340 4-bolt main that buried the spedometer at 150 and kept acclerating. I was in it, scared the crap out of me when the front end began to shake.......But that was when I was young, fearless and invincible.........
I have since then explored my mortality and it exists....
