Ok, after reading another thread on the main boards, I had an idea. I would really like to get a photo of the red, white, and blue 109s all lined up. Could make a really cool patriotic wallpaper for my computer. I have the red bike, but need to hook up with someone on the white and blue. I have a decent camera for the photo as well. Any thoughts? For those with other colors, we could throw them all together for a few more photos.

Hey, all we need is silver now and we have all of the colors covered. The difficulty is finding a time and place to hook up. It's my 1st anniversary this weekend, so that is out. The other thing is that a couple of our riders are in Utah county, sounds like PentaJoe is in Weber county, and I'm somewhere between, depending on the time of day. I live in Tooele county, but work in Draper at the south end of SL county. It also sounds like Pentajoe's schedule is a bit difficult to work around for most since he works afternoons. I'm off at around 5:00 M-F. Maybe we could get him to drive down to SL county on a friday soon. We could find a spot with a good background for the photos, and snap a bunch of shots. Get the red, white, blue thing, then some of all the bikes that show up.

I am game! Just let me know where and when. Fridays are great for me. It will be awsome to meet whoever shows. I am excited to hear the drilled out pipes in person before I take the plunge.
Question.... Are we taking back seats off and putting on just the cap or is it a shoot what you bring?

Hey guys,
I'm currently in Colorado Springs and have my silver 9 with me. Let me know if you want me to be somewhere for pics.. I have my MC trailer with me also if I need to go a bit longer drive than I care to on the bike. Just so long as we get a ride in when the pics are done I'm down! Saturdays and Sundays work best for me.

It would be nice if all bikes were set up pretty much the same if possible, but that isn't too critical. Your profile photo shows a backrest on. If that's still there, wouldn't it be quite difficult to take it and the back seat off? That's the main reason I don't have a backrest yet, I want to ride with the solo setup often, especially with my long commute each day.
And Colorado Springs? That's quite the ride! But anyone that wants to meet up is more than welcome.

it's been a while since we have gotten together, we need to make sure a decent ride is included along with the photo-op. I dabble in photography and have a decent digital SLR and I am more than happy to shoot some pics if you don't have anyone else lined up. So are we looking at a friday still? I can't this friday (15th) but the next would probably be fine

It sounds like a Saturday might be a better day for DaltonH. If I can get time away, that would probably be a better day for me for a bit of a ride, too.
As mentioned, this weekend is out for me. It's our first anniversary so we will be out of town. Next weekend just might work out, if it works for others. (would like to get it done before July 4 anyway).
So which DSLR do you have? I was planning on just shooting it myself with my Nikon D50. I probably wouldn't bring my whole camera outfit as I would hate to go on much of a ride with the monstrous camera backpack I have for all of my gear, unless we want to find a place in the Tooele area for the shot. Something with the Great Salt Lake and Stansbury Island in the background might be kind of cool, if I can think of a good place to pull off that doesn't have barricades in the way. Even better would be the salt flats, but I don't want to pack all the camera gear out there on the bike, and I'm honestly not sure how to get out there. That would probably also be a bit far for Dalton, riding from Colorado all the way to near the Nevada border.
Thoughts?

Hey Hey Guys,
The 23rd works good for me. I will let my wife know so she doesnt plan something else for that Saturday and we should be good to go. As far as the back rest and rack. I can swap them out in about 20 min so I will do that beforehand. If my better half wants to ride with me then of course I will have it on, I will see what she thinks.

cool, now I'll just have to see if I can get my flash - bang figured out....hooking up the Stebel to the passing button, so the horn honks and the high beams go on at the same time. Stebel is still in the box. Dang I need more time!
You know, the tooele ride still would be a fun one. It doesn't have the twisties as much, but there is a nice little cafe / restaraunt to stop at between Tooele and Stansbury Park called Virg's. They serve a great breakfast, but also have great food for other meals. Often there are a couple of bikes in the lot, too.

Ride, sounds like we have the same camera, I've got the d50 as well. the 23rd should work for me. Actually, they are having the AMA superbike races at Larry H miller that weekend, it would be fun to work that into our ride plans for anyone that wanted to. I would definitely be interested in going, and if we are out that way anyway...

Earlier in the morning would be better for me. We could meet in the Salt Lake / Utah county area, ride down around Lehi, over to Cedar Fort area, and up through Tooele. Stop in the cafe just north of Tooele for lunch. We could take a bunch of photos around that area, there are a lot of wide open spaces. I don't know what time the thing starts at Larry Miller's place, but that might also be an option for some.
Any other thoughts / suggestions?

Hey guys. Been away for awhile trying to get things back to normal after being out of country for 10 days. Once you get things firmed up let me know your general itinerary. I have stuff going on Saturday but might be able to hook up with you for a while.
You don't need me for the photo shoot since you already have the red covered.
Thanks much.

So far I think we are looking at a morning ride, with lunch in the Tooele area. I'm not sure where we will take the photos. Probably some on the way and some in the Tooele area. Feel free to come along for all or part. Though we have a red bike that will be there, the more the merrier.

I am heading out to the Mirror lake Highway this saturday with a few buddies, that is if I get my new tire scrubbed by this weekend, dont dare hit the curves hard with a new tire that has not been scrubbed. but I am always up for a ride anytime.

So whats the plan for tomorrow Rideutah? :)
rideutah
06-22-2007, 10:52 AM
With the 100 degree forecast for tomorrow, I was thinking it might be nice to get the riding in a bit early. What would everyone think of meeting up at around 8:30-9:30 (somewhere around that time anyway)?
We could meet people in a couple of different places. For those in the SL valley and North we could meet somewhere central SL valley. For those in Utah County we could meet just off the freeway in Lehi.
I would still like to plan on doing lunch at Virg's just north of Tooele. If you all don't mind, I'll probably have my wife meet me there as well. :)
We could probably get a few photos in on the ride and in the Tooele area. I just need to figure out how to pack my camera along safely. I'll probably end up backpacking it.
Any thoughts?

I'm up for starting early with the expected temps as well and most willing to meet up in the lehi area for the utah county riders....I'm at 90th south in Sandy so Lehi is easy for me. As for your wife coming to eat lunch I'm fine with it as I'm betting as would be with the others and lunch at Virg's sounds good.
Just post what time and where to meet at :)

Do what you need to do...family comes first in my book. If there's not another black, we can still have a great ride and get photos with whatever bikes are there.
I'm thinking meeting anyone from the North at Honda Suzuki SL at 8:45, leave there by 9:00. I think we can easily be in Lehi by 9:30, but let's say 9:45 and leave there by 10:00 and head West. In Lehi, let's meet at the gas station (I think it's Chevron) directly East of (across the street from) McDonalds off the main Lehi exit.
Now we just need everyone to chime in that will be going so we know who to look for and where to expect to meet them.
Post a reply here with who you are, what color bike you ride, and where / when you plan on meeting us.

What time do you think you'll be doing lunch? I have a ton going on in the morning but I might be able to blast out of here about 11:30. That would put me in the Tooele area around 12:30-1:00.
If you guys are planning on doing lunch that late I might try it but don't plan around me. No guarantees I can make it even then.

I can have my pass seat & backrest or just the cowl...Let me know and if no other southern (south of sandy) riders are going to make it I can just plan on meeting at Honda/Suzuki of SL as well :)
rideutah
06-22-2007, 10:53 PM
set it up how you want. The blue one will have the backrest on it. I'll probably have the cowl if I get started in time to change it. Doesn't matter much to me how you have it. Just be nice to have the pictures. :)
So what roads are these that are under construction? Not familiar with the road numbers out there. How bad is the construction? If it's too bad, maybe we can just loop over to Bacchus highway, back up North, and around that way instead of going South. South would be more fun, but I prefer not to go on longer stretches of gravel / dirt with my 9. I also really don't want to get stuck in a long line of stop and go traffic with people trying to take their ATVs down that way. Stop and go in 101 degree temps just isn't too fun. I had that on my way home today on I15 with a wreck at 3300 S. Funny thing was the Ninja right in front of me. Guy was dragging his feet most of the way. There were at least 3 times where he went to get it going from a stop and killed the bike because he forgot to downshift. Guess we all started out at some time, though.
Looking forward to tomorrow.
The road that's under construction (might be done now) is basically from the chemical depot (on HWY 73, take a right on HWY 36 back to Tooele) to Stockton. They were doing black top on the road, and was down to one lane. But like I said, this was Thursday, it might be done now.
