Well, I've only been riding since June, but I'm still riding. These last few days have started out in the 20s so I've opted for the cage as a commuter. my gear keeps me relatively comfortable down to 30. I still have an issue with air blowing up onto my nose and eyes, which is not comfortable for my 35 mile commute. I've had a couple close calls in the rain, so I won't ride in it anymore unless I can't avoid it.

ride at least 4 times a week. temps no problem, won't start a ride in the rain although I have been caught out in it, no ice ever. commute is 38 miles one way, the roads are the worst for traffic 635, 35, loop 12, 183, loop 820 but I make the best of it. :D

Don't use it as a commuter but I ride year round whenever the urge arises :D Seems to arise a lot more since I got the 9 :clap2:

Year round here. I commute with her. Nothing better after work than hoping on the 109 to take you home.

I ride pretty much year round, But then again it never gets below 40 degrees where I live. If possible, I will completely avoid riding in this SoCal traffic in the rain though.

Trust me... that M109R jacket is anything but warm when the mercury drops. It can keep you comfortable into the 40s, but the 30s is really pushing it. I had to get some real riding gear to extend my season.

Such as? This is my first full riding year, so any info that will help me be smart about it is helpful. Hmmm..maybe good idea for new topic.

First Gear makes some good stuff (non leather). I have tried it all and the leather starts out ok but the cold seeps in then it's really cold like holding it next to you. The synthetic stuff keeps you warmer of course the main advantage leather has over the synthetics is fall protection. I run an old (6 yrs) Alpine Stars Tech Road jacket that is still water proof and with the liner in I have yet to get cold, bonus is all the pockets. The drawback the Alpine Stars gear is it is pricey but I got the jacket above on closeout marked down from $399 to $199, so check the closeouts on all the websites or at the dealers. The First Gear stuff is a good price and from todays standpoint compared to my older Alpine stars is as good quality. I have the Hyper Tech First Gear pants and they have never let me get cold, just kind of bulky knee pad protectors but still comfy. The only gear I need to be a true winter warrior is some heated gloves, I have tried every kind of non heated glove and believe me at 19 degrees standing still none of them keep you warm going down the down the road. Gonna pm snake about that ride on the 17th.

I ride year round, Sometimes as commuter. Avoiding ice and snow now but when I had my Enduro I didn't let anything stop me. Well except that week where it was 40 Below. :redfaced: I wimped out. ;)

Pretty much year round so far. I normally wear a thick leather coat over my riding jacket to stay warm. I prefer it to be at least 60 degrees when I ride.
I am in Katy by the way. Right around the 99/Cinco Ranch Area. Anyone close to me? If so, send me an email and we can say hello sometime.

South Texas weather is nice enough for year round riding.
I will not ride unless I really really really need to get away if the temp drops below 35 or if its raining.
