Alright,

I know this sounds crazy but I recently purchased my 06 silver 9 and it came de-badged. I have been very happy with it de-badged but came across a couple of bikes that were still badged and thought to myself...man thats a big tank to have nothing on it...and I'm damn proud to ride my Suzuki...Maybe I will one day try to get the badges...well... as fate would have it...One of our buddies here on this site was selling off some spare parts and bam!...I've got two like new badges. My first question is: Why did all of this de-badging start to begin with ( I certainly understand if you customize your paint job...but not so much on the stock paint jobs )...And secondly and more importantly what is the best adhesive to use to put the badges back on? I realize a few drops of super glue would work great but what would be best knowing that one day I may want to go back to de-badged and I need something that would play nice if I ever needed to pull them off? Wheeew...sorry to be so long winded on this one but any thoughts would be appreciated...Thanks! By the way...I'm going to try to attach a pic so you can see how it looks now....Any opinions on what looks better would be appreciated as well...

I believe they used 3M double sided foam tape. But I had mine debadged so it wouldn't get in the way of the shine. But mine was originally red.. with yours silver. well......:D:joke::bigthumbsup:

3M tape with the RED plastic. The tape is GREY and very thin. That is what I would use. Available at Wal Mart or most auto parts stores.

That's exactly what I used, and it sticks really really well. Make sure you have them where you want them when you press them down. If you lightly position them you can pull them back off with some effort, but once you press them down they are on.

I never put my tank badges back on, but I put the M109R side panel badges back on a couple times.

As to why folks take them off, it start back before I came here in March of 2007, so I'd say the first year they came out the badges started coming off. I think it cleans the bike up, and it makes folks ask what the heck it is.

I have always heated the 3M tape before pressing the item to the mounting surface. It seems to adhere better.
