My rear cylinder was not running right, so I decided to change the rear plugs to see if that would help. Well I removed the seat and lifted the tank enough to get to plugs...no problem (didn't want to remove tank completely because of LEDs under tank. I did not disconnect anything (fuel line or wire harness) changed plugs, went to start it and now it sounds like fuel pump is not coming on. It acts the same way no matter what position the "run" switch is in. It goes through the check but acts like that switch is in the "off position" I checked everything again to make sure the harness didn't come loose, but it is fine. What could I have done? This was pretty simple job that I somehow managed to complicate....HELP !!!! PS...I already checked fuses, and none are burnt out

Headlight comes on, tach cycles, speedometer cycles, no fuel pump sound, it acts just like switch is in off position

By lifting the tank in the back, it puts some pressure on the plug and wires for the fuel pump power. Disconnect that plug and make sure all the wires are in it and one did not pull loose. I have seen some wires actually pull out of the plug and no power!

Check your ignition fuse. If it IS blown, find out why, look for wires that have been damaged where they could ground to the frame, or rub another bare wire.
Don't just replace the fuse, or it'll happen again.
What info can you share that gives you the idea that your rear cylinder specifically was not running right?

Correction: Check all your fuses.

Ok, she is running again I checked the wires as Todd suggested, the wires were ok. I had already checked the fuses, and they were ok . All I did was push the wires in even more, cycled the kickstand up and down again, and changed gears, put it back in neutral, and it started. I don't know which one did it, I'm just glad it did. Thanks guys for all of your help. Todd, I think the wires might have been it, even though none were pulled out. I just gave a push on em back to the plug. I was in panic mode, and you guys were right there to help. I can't thank you guys enough. Nothing like that feeling of knowing there is a bunch of experienced people with the 109 willing to help anybody in need:beer2:

Now that you've mentioned "changed gears" I think that might have been the problem...
I did it the other day too, I left it in first and turned it off, tried to start it up and I was like "WTF"
All the same symptoms, no fuel pump, wouldn't crank... I should've remembered that.

You sure you put the stand up the first time? Just asking cause sometimes that mod fever takes over and we go eagerly to start it to check our work and when nothing happens our minds sometimes jumps to panic mode!

No, stand was down, bike was in neutral when it wouldn't start. Confirmed that green light was on when I was having problems. Just glad it worked out, whatever it was. This was the first time working on the 9, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be (except for the panic when it wouldn't start) LOL Great step by step instructions for just about everything on this sight.

X2!
I bet you pulled one of the wires out of the fuel pump plug... it's the plug under the rear of tank that you must unplug to remove the tank or raise it up. Don't ask me how I know....
Make sure you double check that all the wires are seated in the plug. It could leave you stranded if you don't.
Just FYI, you're not supposed to lift the tank up more than about 4" as it strains the fuel line. And it pulls on the wire connector, as you probably found out.
