Hey guys, I have made a few Debeaver brackets for some mates here in Aussie land and thought I could share with you guys.

This is the debeaver diagram I made.

Steel is the go as aluminium will break where you bend it eventually and bits fall off. Stainless steel even better as it doesnt rust. Suggest 1.6 mm thick as being plenty thick enough in either types of steel.

Very similar to the below pic. The below pic has the very 1st bracket I made and my brackets have changed slightly in design. However, the pic below is pretty much the same end result as the latest bracket in the 1st post.

I just made another one for myself, but didn't take any pics. From what I remember, I started with 2 inch wide aluminum stock. The main body was 7" wide and the tabs were 1.5" each for a total length of 9". The 7" matches my plate bracket width.

Mark down the length of the piece, separating it into 3/4 and 1 1/4 wide areas with a felt tip pen. The 3/4 wide area will be the part that attaches to the 2 bolts coming down from the fender. Drill 2 holes to match these bolts. The tabs will be 1 1/2 long and will be bent at each end 90 degrees from the middle 7" section. Those 2 tabs get a hole each for turnsignal attachment.

The 1 1/4 section will be used to hold the licence plate, and will be bent at a 45 degree angle. It will also be shortened from 9" to 7" by cutting off 1 1/2 at each end of the 1 1/4 wide area.

You should then have a finished plate holder. I spray painted mine black.

I bought this one for $17.38 and it works perfectly with the stock turn signals and I'm sure with any others as well. The only 'extra' work was drilling two holes to match the bracket (no big deal at all) and I did buy a couple of longer metric hex bolts for the mount.

That looks sweet, and cheep too, though with my first atempt I used alumimium and it started to crack on the tabs for the indicators.

Yes, I had read that about the aluminum brackets when I was deciding how I wanted to de-beaver. This one is good hard steel. The license plate may bend, but the bracket won't unless you bend it intentionally. A satisfied customer here. The only drawback was that I did have to drill holes for it and ended up having to drill a hole for the left side turn signal wire to go through to keep it from being pulled too tightly. But wasn't a big deal at all. If I can do it, anyone can. Oh, another thing to mention is that you will need a license plate light or a lighted plate frame. I don't really ride at night so I haven't put one on yet.

Dang man you're 100% correct. I guess I had forgotten that it said aluminum. Also didn't realize aluminum would be so thick. It must be close to 1/8" thick. Seems very sturdy like steel, but perhaps it is lighter. I'd be really surprised if I have any trouble with it, time will tell.

Ya probably right, mine was hand made and to get the indicator tabs I had to bend/fold it and that weakened at the fold. yours would be machine made and probably hasn't been stressed like mine.

If you guys decide to make your own use steel :bigthumbsup:
